Obviously now we know she was not happy with the sound the label was having her do, but now they're going to force her back in studio and make her make songs they want or drop her

From those 1st day Spotify #s, looks like she had a global anticipation for the lead, but that specific song will not do anything for non US audiences. And judging from the Apple Music performance it won't do anything in the US either. A total waste

Honestly it's a filler album track at best - quite boring and forgettable. Gunna added nothing of substance either.

 

She should have announced the album one month in advance and drop Candy Paint as the lead single, especially since the song was already gaining traction on tiktok.

 

Hopefully she has better tracks on the album because this is not it.

She's putting out the music she wants, and while it could be argued that this isn't single material, it's still a great piece of work, co-written by her. We should give her credit where it's due.

OT - there was no video for this and I don't think it's getting radio adds, 900k the first day and 500k for a second day isn't horrible for Normani tbh. How much did fair do its first 2 days?

But her label should have forced her to make pop music. You can't have artistic freedom on your debut album it's just not realistic

You definitely can if you build up a fanbase beforehand or if the music is good enough.

Just listened to a bit of the song and yeah her artistic freedom privileges should be revoked! Expected more from the now fourth lead single to her debut.
