liquiddiamonds Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Her tone and range are not made for these sultry aaliyah R&B bedroom beats. Even with all the layering it just doesn't have IT. I have a feeling people think everyone black can do everything black music and that's just not it. She has a commanding tone that would sound perfect doing afrobeats, crunk, goo-goo, the upbeat side of black music. She also doesn't need much range or vocal elasticity with her delivery to sell a song in those genres. For R&B we really need to FEEL it, and her voice is monotonous Edited April 27 by liquiddiamonds 10 1 1

raven Posted April 27 Posted April 27 No music video, no promo, no presave, over a month long wait for a solid sounding album track… I'm not sure what they expected 2
Loroy Posted April 27 Posted April 27 49M twitter impressions for the album cover yet, the song made zero noise... make it make sense 1 1
Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) These numbers aren't surprising, considering she's been away for almost three years and hasn't even bothered to promote the song. It's meant to serve as a nice introduction to the album; I don't think it's even receiving the full "real" single push. Some of you are honestly doing too much. She's been through so much these last few years, especially with both her parents getting cancer. I'm surprised she was even able to start writing songs again after all the trauma she's been through. Regardless of what the twinks on here are saying, Normani has already established a great legacy. She was an integral part of 5H and has managed to leave her mark on the world with hits like DWAS, Love Lies, Motivation, and Wild Side. I'm not sure why she's being dragged through the mud here when she's not even trying to turn this into a hit or resorting to every possible stunt to make this a quick hit. But of course, some of you will seize this opportunity for a quick kiii, but I don't think Normani cares what you guys think. She's putting out the music she wants, and while it could be argued that this isn't single material, it's still a great piece of work, co-written by her. We should give her credit where it's due. smallreminders Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Is it really serving OUT if it never debuted in the first place 1 4 1
Billionaire Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Her team is abysmal, I was seeing several tweets about how they didn't even know she had a song out and me myself didn't even know until the day of. The song doesn't give lead either. Extremely embarrassing how they found another way to fumble AGAIN after everyone was sat for the album cover reveal
_Fey Posted April 27 Posted April 27 The way it keeps going from worse to worser. It is so moronic that she and her team didn't capitalize from either the Motivation or Wild Side hype to launch the album. Or the album title/cover hype. Her album is finally coming out and she's not even able to debut its lead on the Global/US charts anymore, something even Fair was able to do.

Ok no but seriously— As long as her fanbase is happy (and, based on that one ATRLer that is a fan of hers, I think they're happy) there is no need for any of us to rub salt on the wound Even your shade is kinda classy I could never lmaoooo 1
Lady Claire Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Like i said on the song's thread, it sounds like a Teyana Taylor filler track at most, not a song to introduce your album campaign. It was basically DOA, she didn't even tried. I don't know what was her plan Also i don't mind her doing R&B as long it's decent enough to be a single like Wild Side was, at least.
KKKIMO92 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Wild would serve better as a lead. This is too blend, RNB music also require some Cathy melody like Alicia Keys.
Nickimeetsatrl Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Idk she seems like the type of talent to be good at American idol/the voice etc but not in the industry 1
305 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Being number one on NMF and not even cracking top 200 is a CRAZY level of floppage omg 1 1 6 2

You can't have artistic freedom on your debut album it's just not realistic 200% agree with you and that song she released is boring, bland and uninteresting. She'll be lucky if her album even debuts with 1k copies sold and if she does not get dropped immediately.
Gaia Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Her and her team have no idea what they're doing. They announced the album and then waited 2 months to release the first single so literally all hype died down. Dumbest roll out I've ever seen for a non-established artist
Erreur2 La Nature Posted April 27 Posted April 27 2 hours ago, dillan said: What a disaster, was it on any playlists? How can she get 200k likes on the tweet of her album announcement and not chart Social medias will never be a good representation of reality and people's interest. Those who are liking her tweet at gay pop stans that make fun of the situation just like on here. No one is actually interested and invested in Normani's career. 1
Blue Monday Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Love Normani and truly want to see her win but this song is not the type of song to launch your (very delayed) debut album; it's dated, there's nothing special about it and she sounds like a feature on her own song. Motivation and Wild Side screamed lead singles even though they didn't have great chart runs. I'm not sure what the logic was in choosing this song. Hope there's better stuff on the album
