PrettyHurts Posted April 26 Posted April 26 More of a country and rock sound like But Daddy I Love Him & Guilty As Sin 1
wish Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Stronger, more dynamic melodies Fresh, unique production More concise lyrics, love the imagery but use less clunky thesaurus word choices Less focus on relationships, more focus on other vulnerable topics like mental health, fame, trauma, fears, etc. 5 2
Pop Fan Posted April 26 Posted April 26 24 minutes ago, Hex said: I want something like Madonna's Music where she can incorporate her acoustic side with some synthier bops. For the love of god, abandon Jack... not because I don't like his production but because it's clear he's a yes man. Work with someone like a Dan Niigro or Danny L Harle who can bring out the weird but not fully out there. And for the love of god, most importantly, hire a co-writer to help with the melodies and verbiage. Overstuffing sentences with thesaurus ramblings is not "poetry" nor is it good (the way this sentence literally could have been a TTPD lyric). The talk-singing going up and down the same 3 note vocal arpeggios is bad and lazy. Ballads are fine but the emotion is lost when every line is so "woe is me". There's power in being subtle. Take a good 3 year break for now... Not Dan *****, there are so many better producers, he was okay for Olivia but his production is so teen angsty pop/rock and I hope Olivia branches out for her 3rd studio album cuz they also reached their creative peak together and it's getting stale, another Olivia pop/rock album produced by Dan would probably flop 1 1
Ewan Chaos Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Stop writing about her own life and make **** up instead again like Folklore No Jack or very little Jack bc I can't deal with another Rep, Mid, or PTSD Agree with the above, bring back the melodies & go back to trying to write songs in a musical sense not a writer/poet's sense For it to come out after SOME sort of break 2
Virgos Groove Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) Jangle pop (and for Jack Antonoff to be exiled). Edited April 26 by Virgos Groove 3
ChrispyBelievix Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) ENOUGH of the minimalist chunky '80s synthpop. its really tired by now and needs to be left aside. The old Western-infused alt-pop songs tho? More of that. Edited April 26 by ChrispyBelievix 3
bielneira Posted April 26 Posted April 26 First, I want her to take time. Second, I'd like her to do an electronic/dance album.
CécredSpaces Posted April 26 Posted April 26 New co-writers, new producers. Bring back Joel Little but don't force him to write cringy "political" songs. I think he knows the sound that works for Taylor Swift. "Me!," "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince," "Only the Young," "You Need to Calm Down" sound great, but Taylor couldn't help herself with the performative activism and the Kidz Boppery so we got cringefests instead. Work with Timbaland who said he is interested in working with Taylor Swift. Work with Sounwave as a main producer, not just a mixing guy. That man is ultra talented. Hire Liz Rose to fix Taylor's clunky ass songwriting as of late. They make magic together. Try other genres. Expand on the R&B sounds she explored in Reputation. Maybe incorporate EDM like she did with "This Is What You Came For". Anything but stale synthpop. She can even do more acoustic sets like Beyoncé's I Am... or Ed Sheeran's discography. Get rid of Jack Antonoff. For the love of God. 4
Slayn Posted April 26 Posted April 26 DROP THE POP, TAYLOR. Its time for something else, going back to generic, bland pop after folkmore was probably the worst decision artistically you could've made. Let's dive into some trip-hop, some folktronica, COULD EVEN GO BACK TO COUNTRY (which was started on evermore if u ask me), just SOMETHING different. YOU HAVE ENOUGH MONEY/RECORDS/STREAMS, let's make some ART! 3
Pop Fan Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I would love a Max Martin blockbuster ala 1989 but more chill with mature and elegant and more simple lyricism. If 1989 represents New York, then TS12 should represent LA/Malibu. I want an album full of catchy, summer pop-perfections produced by Max...upbeat, happy beach bops with carefree good vibes like Teenage Dream, Cali Gurls and Last Friday Nights but with way better Swiftian lyrics 1
randb Posted April 26 Posted April 26 more powerful production like 1989 but not super chaotic and messy like rep. and also not terrible lyrics as we've seen with ttpd. 1
yonsé Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) i dont care what the genre is. she can keep doing her singer songwritery gig if thats what she likes. i prefer the pop albums like midnights and 1989 but red and ttpd are good too. i just need her to work with someone new. jack and aaron need to take a seat for an era. i really love lavender haze. an album with sam dew and sounwave would be good. bring zoe back as a cowriter. Trent W Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I'm more of a fan but: 1- No mention of Kim or Kanye ever again 2- No break up song about someone specific, that is tired 3- A whole new genre she hasn't explored 4- New topics, something she hasn't talked about of her life 5- 12-15 tracks counting deluxe 6- 2027 release
Onion Girl Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I don't really care about the sound, but I think she should do something unexpected and release an album with like 10 or 11 songs. No deluxe, no 1AM tracks, no multiple covers (she is not the only artist that does this, of course). Even if fans don't like that. 1
dumbsparce Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Sth not only Swifties can connect to out of habit. Idk what tje general consensus is but to me Anti-hero was her most accessible single since 1989 so I'd like more of that (with less cringy lyrics). 1
eli's_rhythm Posted April 26 Posted April 26 29 minutes ago, Virgos Groove said: Jangle pop (and for Jack Antonoff to be exiled). I think this is the most plausible and tasteful direction she could go in so far. Some of her recent songs (with Jack lol) are already leaning this way - "So High School," "TTPD," "august," etc. I agree that she should eschew the synthwave sound with Jack though. 2
Strawberry Bubble Posted April 26 Posted April 26 1 hour ago, Solaria said: No Jack no Aaron no melodicless empty songs no comforming no being safe no songs about Kim no songs about Joe, Travis or Matty. No lyrics about her life and her emotions no vulnerability no relatibility no mediocrity no lyrics about how shes masturbating while lying in bed with Joe thinking about Matty. What we do want: Her Confessions / Dance album. It's TIME. that.. wouldn't be a taylor swift album lol
