Cloröx Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Can't wait the next decade when they admit they are wrong and the score should be 8.5. This is her Born To Die instead of Miss Polystyrene 1 4 7 1
kimberly Posted April 22 Posted April 22 anthology gets her worst score ever. RED TV - 8.5 folklore - 8.0 evermore - 7.9 1989 TV - 7.7 Speak Now TV - 7.5 Fearless TV - 7.5 Lover - 7.1 Midnights - 7.0 TTPD - 6.6 Reputation - 6.5 TTPD (Anthology) - 6.0
Mezik Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I honestly cannot understand how the album is doing so poorly in reviews compared to Midnights. Midnights is generic pop, minus three of the tracks, at its best and just sounds like an artificial manufactured record. TTPD/TA I genuinely believe is in her top two album discography, only behind Evermore. I feel the autobiographical song writing in this album is so much more authentic and sharp compared to Midnights. I can't help but feel the reception is due to the over exposure too. Had Taylor released this album in 2025/2026, or long after the rereleases I feel critics wouldn't be as hard on her. 3 3
FolkLover1989 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 So they again talked more about her life than music Well 9

Vagabond Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Anthology is legitimately her best album and I think it will age incredibly. There's so much immaculate stuff here. 2
Wicked Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Popular artists in general are in desperate need of a renowned executive producer to play tastemaker/filter for their albums. I'm still in shambles she didn't make better use of Sounwave for Lavender Haze. 1
Jai Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Mmm, not great. Not horrible either but maybe it would benefit to switch things up next album cycle if she cares about reviews like that. otherwise it's really fine.

The Anthology deserved a 9.0 and BNM 4 7 3
Noodles Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Was worried when they announced the lay-offs that they would become RS 2.0, but thank god they still have some senses. The scores are very fair

For real P4k is one of the most generous critics out there unless you are Katy or Ed Sheeran. Sputnik is more harsh and I'm surprise she got a solid 90

I still think the album has flaws but I agree with your comment, swift fatigue is seemingly starting to set in, again! I hope she doesn't repeat the same mistake during 1989 through reputation phase, she needs to finish the era's tour & release the last two TV's and take an well deserved break, seriously…
ATRL Moderator Juánny Posted April 22 ATRL Moderator Posted April 22 From the perspective of someone who personally enjoyed + continues to enjoy TTPD, this review is fair and well-written, vacillating between what the album does well and where it comes up short. The reasoning behind the score and criticisms were presented really eloquently. The whole concept of a 31-track album that is this long almost unnecessarily, and this rooted in the soundscapes and lyricism that seem poised and crafted in part to extend Taylor's commercial and cultural dominance (which she seems to have done successfully) basically necessitates a middling review like this from a publication of Pitchfork's history, stature, and culture. So I'm sure very few are surprised to see a 6.6. 6
