midnights is way more commercial than this and the tracks are shorter as well

Mind you 130M listeners did not tune it for ESV kiconn.png

I can't see most people wanting to replay most of this album over and over after the hype has gone

Midnights has much higher replay value than this, especially for non-stans

The album is really... not catchy.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more - it's certainly less intentionally hooky, but it's still incredibly catchy and imo far more replayable than Midnights due to the insane depth and quality of content here. Every song has so many layers. There's nothing one note like "Karma" or "Snow On the Beach" to become future skips here. Swifties respond to depth!

It's hilarious how some people wanna act as if it's this massive, catastrophic drop when she's doing WAY more day 2 than most people's faves would do in an entire week :toofunny3:

People did the same thing with Midnights :rip: It's like they never learn

The massive drop was kind of obvious tbh. Who wants to listen to that snooze fest twice?

The fact is there's no situation to compare it to to say if it's doing worse or better, cause it's unprecedented, simple as that

This is not true tho

You could calculate the drop on the second day from midnights

Midnights had a 36% drop

TTPD had a 42% drop

The first day streams almost doubled from Midnights to TTPD. There are also 11 more tracks. They are not directly comparable.

A 6% bigger drop for 1.87x the first day streams? :skull:

People who streamed it 182M times (more than any other album's first day except Midnights)

It's just the numbers

for example

Cowboy Carter had a 25% drop

edit:

I don't have the streaming numbers from all albums on first and second day but since it was posted here

Endless Summer Vacation had a 28% drop

But CC debuted with 76M streams, it's not the same thing

Yes, but the TTPD numbers were very much significantly bigger than anything that preceded it on Spotify, so it's really not comparable cause we don't know how other albums debuting with around its streams did in the second day because no album every debuted even remotely close to TTPD's streams

Yes. We are saying you can't just put them all next to each other when this is an outlier. It's a 31 track album that smashed the first day streams record by over 100M. Nobody else has even crossed 200 before. You can't just compare second day drops and say this one isn't holding up well when its second day is bigger than literally every other album's first day (other than her own previous album). Not doing well compared to what? The entire situation is unprecedented.

You still can see a pattern of consumption. Big numbers like that will still drop like a rock but on the next few days you will be able to see if they stabilize.

I wonder how can they make it through 31 tracks the first time. :ryan3:

TTPD had a much bigger opening than Midnights, of course the drop would be bigger :rip: :lmao:

This is what happens with movies box office too tho and it can still be calculated if you have the data(which I don't). Someone with knowledge on data analysis could still calculate if the drop is significant or normal for huge releases. What that user said was a lie.

Yes, that's for sure! It's just that the difference in volume makes it so it won't exactly replicate any other preceding pattern, but you can get a general idea for sure.

How much has your fave done on day 2 of her last album? With her supposedly not "snooze fest" album, uh? Come on tell us, don't be shy.

Imagine being that bitter and low of a person that you would call a fanbase a "cult" just because you don't like an artist :toofunny3:

People have really zero morals when it comes to Taylor and her fans, it's getting beyond creepy at this point.

Swifties threatening people on Twitter who don't like Taylor or TTPD is being bitter and low. And yes, that's like being part of a cult.
