Smh. Keep telling u that. Everyone knows her career took quite of a dip with Rep + Lover compared to her previous eras. No real hits from those 2 eras. So tell me why Lover only got a second life as of late when her career thrived again? Cruel Summer was a big hit due to her career went uphill again later on thanks to folklore + evermore + midnights.

Dip being a #2 best seller according to IFPI in 2017 and 2019 :jonny6:

you guys keep saying that she should restart from where folklore ended but this is not the only way to get a good solid album

1989 is literally one of the best pop albums in the century

red also is a very acclaimed country-pop

she has lots of ways to go

Super weird dragging Gaga here when she's really never had anything bad to say or do with Taylor.

so what's our fav review so far?

Happy Little Women GIF by TV One

Paste's, while I don't claim to agree with the score they gave, is unironically a pop culture masterpiece of an article :deadbanana4:

Her selfishness leads to here :duck:. This album lacks a lot of things, mostly, authenticity. It wasn't need at this time

You're seeing stuff about Gaga because some Swiftie tweeted this:

So naturally everyone is kiiing now that TTPD has dropped lower on Metacritic :gaygacat4:

The common thread I'm seeing is that Taylor's insane fans attract a lot of negative attention with their aggression and dumb takes. They're literally weighing her down at this point.

Ugh how hyper annoying. And TAYLOR HERSELF seems to despise those people (eg But Daddy)

The funniest thing reading this thread is that 77 isn't a bad score at all :deadbanana4:

69 from BPM (counts for MC and AOTY)

I don't even care follow Taylor content and she always somehow ends up on my feed, but I keep seeing this panned on TikTok. Don't know if I'm on the hater side of the algorithm or is that the consensus? :rip:

Seems like the more negative reviews are coming much later than the kiss ass ones. I wonder why

Keep the negative reviews coming please. Let's make it fair for once and have this album at its deserving score: 65

And Poptimism also should end here so we know which album is really good or bad, but please not to the point like before. Should be neutral and fair.

Iirc Emotion by Carly was one of the first to ignite Poptimism (not saying that it doesn't deserve its score, in fact, it should be higher than 77, see, how can a good album like Emotion have the same score as this atrocious TTPD album?). But since Emotion, pop albums started to be viewed more easily! So yeah Emotion should be at the higher 80s but I feel like if TTPD was released in 2010, it would have got a score like 69 not 77.

Some of the negative reviewers are doing entirely too much. This album is not a 1/10 like what? And the argument about cringe lyrics doesn't do it for me since she's ALWAYS had cringe lyrics on her albums. It's like giving Cowboy Carter a 1/10. They're not awful albums. I can accept mid but not as bad as they make it seem. Especially with Lover not getting rightfully panned. They just hate Taylor.

So you are saying she got all that acclaim and support while being cringe? Thank you for admitting that everything was paid before. Why would cringe and terrible lyricism be praised? :)

This album deserves AKA numbers

The lyrics are as dumb as "i feel good because i dont feel bad" . At least AKA had bops like Booty and Tens. Wtf does this have?

If you hate fun, just say so. It's a part of her charm and the public has grown to love it.

So are you saying it deserves the 100s? :skull: please look both ways.

I have fun with playful lyrics when i listen to Mariah Carey or Bjork. The two legendary acts who did NOT force themselves as the best lyricist in the industry but became one by proving themselves every album. Her lyrics are embarrassing and it always has been. And you are saying "they just hate Taylor" well i guess all those high scores she ever got was because "they just love Taylor" because there is no other way her simple voice, terrible performing skills and cringe writing style can be this much praised. EW.

Because you can't compare different industries, different award ceremonies and different voting bodies with different criteria. You can only compare the recipients of the same award of which Taylor has 4, more than all the women of color combined in the history of the ceremony. And that's what the people who work in the music industry think.

I mean how don't they get it, many in here -some are swifties too - are saying that midnights deserved this low score so it definitly didn't win aoty because of quality. It won because 1) taylor is a popular name who had already won 2) was a success 3) and sorry to say but race is important here because 20 years from now we aren't going to talk about midnights but sos.

Taylor is a good writer, who's ego got inflated because she is the choosen one from the industry.

I honestly can't tell cuz for the first time my fyp isn't spammed with Taylor related content like it was when Midnights was released but at least on Twitter it's really bad

The anthology version has me cautiously putting my Taylor hate card on the shelf. I feel like my biggest problem with Taylor was that her lyrics are obviously written to be taken seriously and comes from a personal place but always kind of falls short in terms of depth. Which makes it hard for me to enjoy the lines, even unironically, knowing her intentions. If that makes sense lol.

But I wasn't really bothered by them on the Aaron Dessner tracks. The songwriting in general sounds a lot more natural and flows better with the music enough to not make any of that super noticeable. Loving it.
