Student movement in solidarity with Gaza goes global; police crackdowns ensue

Ah yes, America LOVES free speech so much that they would send troops to beat up and arrest protesters to protect a foreign nation from criticism :toofunny3:

People who still think that fascism isn't already in America are in denial or just plain stupid

You would be scum then just like you are scum now.

I can feel the compassion! Tell me, what have you done for the cause besides going online to make nasty comments? I'd love to hear about your good work!

Serious question: What do you think should happen if the school doesn't want to take investing advice from 18-21 year olds, but the 18-21 year olds unlawfully take up residence on school property?

From what I've read, they want Columbia to divest from ETFs managed by a third party because they include Microsoft, Google, and Amazon stock.

So no one has a plan for what to do if Columbia won't stop investing in Google?

I know what I want to see happen, but many won't like the answer.

Wow thank you. So you mean to tell us that the state is a hypocritical anti democratic entity that isn't responsive to the anti war sensibilities of the people? Cool thanks!!!

You can just say you want a Kent State 2.0. You wouldn't be the first. You'd even get to keep company with great people such as Benjamin Netanyahu!

Why would I want to complicate this election season further for Biden?

No, cops need to let these protests continue and let nature, by which I mean students failing their finals, take its course.

Students learn a lesson in prioritizing and the school upholds its academic standards. No bodies are harmed. Everyone wins.

So you don't want the protests to continue? What's your solution?

Nope, I mean to tell you that most of you here posting from mother's laptop aren't as educated as you purport yourselves to be. Let's be real, none of you have done anything for Palestine besides going to an online forum to reveal your inner selves under the cloak of virtue.

What is this? Insult hour? Like seriously. I'm happy i've shown my cloak of virtue being against a genocide. And you're right, it's most definitely bare minimum... So if that's the case what's your excuse? You have even reached that level of being against a genocide yet.

Back in the 70s, support for the Vietnam War actually gained strength among non-conscription age Americans because they hated the student protestors and wanted them drafted and shipped out of sight.

Being anti-war was only popular among young people. Older Americans have always found student protests to be an abominable inconvenience and an eyesore that needed to be cracked down on. That's why Kent State happened. That's why government officials from both parties are calling for it now.

Well at least we don't have to worry about democracy being "on the ballot". We don't have one to speak of.
