People just say anything. Adele just failed to have momentum after Easy on Me and didn't transition as well from sales to streaming. EOM is the only thing that kept that album afloat. It's still the highest female debut after every Taylor release since then. Nothing to look down upon 1

Does anybody above her have less than that? She's transitioned fabulously. 1

She's transitioned fabulously. Context matters, we're speaking about albums released already during the on-going streaming era. We all know her catalogue does great. Back in the digital era Adele could score multiple worldwide hits from one project and she didn't with 30. That's what killed the era. Easy on Me did what it had to do, but there was nothing left to hook audiences past that in the long run. There was little streaming interest on the album overall. Then on top of that her promo schedule was super weird. 1
Renan90 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 (edited) NEW RELEASES: SWIFT UPS THE ANTE With expectations already sky-high for Taylor Swift's THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT, the Republic megastar upped the ante when she decided to drop a secret double album at 2am on Friday. Based on first-day activity, it is clear that TTPD will debut north of 2m units, surpassing incredible opening weeks from 1989 (Taylor's Version) and Midnights to become Tay's biggest debut of her career. By even the most conservative projections, TTPD will shatter the first-week streaming record held by Drake's Scorpion for nearly six years. The 31-track Anthology is projecting to more than 800m first-week streams, with upside. Scorpion opened in July 2018 with 746m on-demand plays. All-in first-day U.S. streams for TTPD topped a quarter of a billion while the album set a global record at Spotify with 314m opening day listens. TTPD will be Swift's seventh album to open at 1m+ and the third over 1.5m—the latter figures all occurring within the last two years. Not too shabby. Taylor Swift, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (Republic) 2m+ Pearl Jam, Dark Matter (Monkeywrench/Republic) 55-60k https://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=340907&title=NEW-RELEASES%3A-SWIFT-UPS-THE-ANTE Edited April 20 by Renan90 1

Feanor Posted April 20 Author Posted April 20 Quote Taylor Swift, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (Republic) 2m+ 2 million. (HDD)
wastedpotential Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Oh yeah they're scared to budge from that 2 number... I wonder why 800M streams also seems quite conservative to me mostly because I want to hit 1B
family.guy123 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 If she hasn't already done enough to break the record, Taylor will do whatever it takes to get it done this week using whatever tricks she has ready. She's had over 2.5 months of presale data available to her, you think she's just going to see what happens? Nah, she's got this planned out. 1
UnusualBoy Posted April 20 Posted April 20 (edited) I doubt it will get to 3 million but hope it does 2.5-2.7 to pass NSync And I was doubting she was gonna pass the 2 million part a few months ago Edited April 20 by UnusualBoy
georgechxng Posted April 20 Posted April 20 (edited) that's weird. don't they have direct access to real data? the numbers from 1st day should be more than enough to give them a range and some sort of "nearly spot on" projection. Edited April 20 by georgechxng
TROPICUM Posted April 20 Posted April 20 are y'all not seeing that 2m + it's gonna increase throughout the week
Maroonx Posted April 20 Posted April 20 C'mon Swifities, new challenge, try to beat N*SYNC's 2.4m number... do your diligence x
