Taylor.

Billie and Lorde are incredibly talented songwriters as well.

Lyrically, it's still Lorde. Taylor is one of my favorite songwriters, but she has a problem with including some of the most cringe-inducing lines in her songs. I've never listened to a Lorde song and thought to myself that a lyric needed to be edited or deleted entirely.

Billie has the most sonically interesting music out of the three, but I don't know how involved she is in that side of the songwriting process.

This poll/thread is already done and Lorde won.

Not only now, even when she was just 17 she was better than them.

Billie is not on either Taylor's or Lorde's league when it comes to songwriting lol

And regarding Taylor and Lorde, it depends on what you prefer, I guess. Lorde's writing style is more direct, simple yet gut punching, and very imagery based too. Taylor's lyrics — in a good day — I feel like are prettier (aesthetically speaking). She uses more metaphors and she's a lot more wordy than Lorde.

But I do feel like Lorde is the one who's able to actually incorporate good lyrics when making pop music. Taylor's songwriting really popped off in evermore, folklore and her country stuff, but she tends to go cringy with her lyrics whenever she dips into pop territory.

Lorde is competing with 2 phonies because I thought we were all collectively aware Billie isn't a songwriter and half the time, her songs are written by Finneas who slaps her name in the credits just because :ryan2:

Also, something about Taylor's songwriting is so inconsistent, given how basic and childish her pop songs are, it just makes it so evident she Google searches "words that rhyme with ___" and "___ synonyms" for her poetic ones. Full of metaphors and filler words that aren't even present in some of the most renowned songwriters vocabulary :ahh:

Lorde's style of songwriting is much more direct and simply realistic. Let's make a new poll including Lana and somebody else..

Lorde by far.

I also like Billie but she hasn't put out anything as strong as Melodrama, or even PH lyrically.

Taylor is wildly inconsistent.

Lorde could write Folklore/Evermore but Taylor couldn't write Pure Herione :gaycat5:

Taylor probably writes better crafted and structured pop songs though… Especially bridges.

Lorde clears with ease, even with Solar Power's messiness.

At 22 Billie is way more impressive. Her stuff washes everything Lorde and Taylor had by that age. Lorde stans clearly pressed because her next album is coming for blood and Lorde has a dud to redeem
