All jokes aside, I am curious how this works. Do content creators have the ability to select the countries their posts show up in? Technically since she is an American who lives in the US and posted from the US, international law does not apply to her. Would the responsibility fall onto Meta to block the posts in places where drug advertising is illegal?

anyways, this falls in line with her Harley Quinn. Already breaking the law IRL. Can not wait until the promo tour starts and she laments about how she got into character as a criminal by bypassing EU drug advertising laws. :duca:

On INSTAGRAM?! :deadbanana2: *Countess Dowager voice* My dears, is it really true? I can't believe it

Lady G... never knew the G stood for GlaxoSmithKline

(those who get the above reference get it those who don't don't)

I stan her but girl keep this **** for American network TV not a global platform. This is not like that Dom Perignon endorsement. Advertising prescription drugs is illegal and controversial in a lot of the world.

Like how crazy high is her overhead that she needs to do this?? I get that she's only toured once in the last six years but still. She needs a better accountant and portfolio manager. There is no reason a global star like her should have to do this kind of ad.

You guys are so strange. It has nothing to do with overhead or "having to do it" and everything to do with the company giving her a big, fat check lol. Just like Taylor encourages her fans to go into credit card debt for a big, fat check. Just like Beyonce performs for LGBTQ-killing-and-imprisoning elite for a big, fat check. If the money is right, these girls will do it lol.

The EU is oppressing the migraine community. Gaga is always a voice for marginalized, they tried to censor Born This Way too :gaygacat9:

That was my nickname for the first one five whole years ago dear. I absolutely despise this franchise and that will never change no matter how many pop queens they throw in it.

The responsibility technically falls on Pfizer and her team for not using Meta's geofencing features to stop the ad from showing in countries where it's illegal.  They give you the ability to do this, so it was likely an oversight that Pfizer should have caught and instructed her team to fix.  Usually they'll provide instructions to whoever is responsible for posting the content, or someone from the company that handles socials will set everything up for the influencer beforehand.

The EU is kinda right about this. Law is law and it's negligent to just say "for US audiences" on a globally available post

I mean, that sounds like IG's problem. Gaga was in the US when she posted that (onto an American platform, mind you)

How can a celebrity promote medicines? I can't

In Italy we had Brad Pitt and George Clooney promotions for the espresso and Antonio Banderas talking for 3 years with a chicken called Rosita. Everything is Better than that. I can't believe that Is the best possible collaboration someone asked to her

It is illegal to advertise prescription medications in the EU to the public.

I just hope the the EU nationals who had their rights infringed by seeing the illegal and poorly directed shilling aren't too traumatised and, if they are, that they hold that person accountable!

I just hope some young Lady GaGa super fans with migraine don't attempt to take these without consulting their clinician first. The long term implications of this drug aren't known, yet in the short term it has caused quite a few unpleasant side effects. Always consult your doctor before taking any medication. Nureological intervening drugs for migraine are few and far between and I appreciate the desperation it can cause, however if anyone here is experiencing regular migraine I recommend keeping a "headache diary". If the frequency of your migraine meets criteria then you may be eligible for monthly Ajovy injections, which on the face of the info regarding Nurtec, is probably a much more viable option.
