It's hilarious how the insufferable Swifties are SO triggered by her comment that they're purposely pushing aside common sense to hate on her because their fave is a capitalist money hungry scammer who has exclusive songs on variants to force hardcore fans to want to buy more than one variant.

Funniest part is she didn't name any specific artist but Swifties are well aware Taylor's sales are heavily inflated by her cheap sales tactics that they get defensive when they're even potentially criticized :bibliahh:

There's always asterisks when it comes to your favs. She called others out for releasing multiple vinyl, and ended up doing the exact SAME thing but claiming she's recyling eco-materials. Well you do realize she can also recycle with ONE variant right? If she care about climate that much? Hypocrisy at best

There isn't any asterisks here. She has the same cover for each vinyl with the only difference being the colour of the disks.

How is producing 1 variant with 100% recycled material better than releasing  8 variants also with recycled material? If anything it's more environmentally friendly cause the colours are scrapped materials and colours are unique. I don't think many people collect vinyls just for the different colours - it's like faulting a restaurant for offering different food on the menu.

On the other hand, having different songs on each and different covers is a tactic to make people collect all vinyls. Pretty much different

Then explain the "buying 4-5 same vinyls to have her signature" then :)

Eilish: We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it's very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging … which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more…

Also Eilish: buy 3 copies of my vinyls to get one signed copy

Maybe YOU put on your thinking cap?

*sigh* notice I never mentioned the bundles in my original comment? Yeah, I'm not defending THAT part of her shtick, that being said, she WAS selling individual copies with signatures but they sold out, so they were available at one point. She's more so catering to the obsessive collectors who were going to buy all the colors regardless of the signature, but no, I won't be defending the bundles since they do seem to be going against her original message of sustainability and I think it was wrong of her to do it.

Her original message also includes her criticism of the gimmicks to boost sale, which she also participates in. That's the problematic part that everyone is rightfully trashing her for. What is not clicking? And have you ever thought that her gimmick is the reason they are sold out, meaning had she not offered the bundles, she would have had fewer sales.

Is Billie a hypocrite, thoughts?

Queen of flip :clap3:

But to be fair, they are made of eco-friendly material tho. Plus she didn't specifically attack her peers. She said that was the issue of the industry.

Billie mouths off way too much for her own benefit, lol. I feel like if she doesn't watch it she's going to have a big backlash era, and she'll be surprised at the lack of support because she won't be given the benefit of the doubt and be coddled for her young age like she was previously (unless she builds some insane BTS/Swift type fanbase).

this might be a controversial take, but i've heard that 100% recycled vinyl is generally going to give a poor product. if that's true (feel free to correct me if it isn't), as a consumer who actually listens to vinyl, rather than just hoarding it, it's frustrating to know i'd be buying a low quality product that would really end up only collecting dust. there's something very un-eco-friendly about selling a physical copy of music that doesn't actually perform its intended function well. ideally, i would rather see her do two or three variants using partially recycled vinyl.

She's the epitome of the fake environmentalism of my generation. Telling people how they are such great eco warriors then behind closed doors creating more waste in a single day than a normal person does in a year. It's fine if that's a passion of hers, but she doesn't need to talk about it. Just donate money and stay silent, all her statements are a level of tone deaf only achieved by being raised by rich parents in LA your whole life.

I think we can acknowledge that at the end of the day a label gets final decision on things like this. So of course they're gonna cash in on vinyl multipurchases because people still buy them, regardless of the outrage. Billie can only do so much, if the recyclable material was a compromise, I'd take that over nothing.

Wait there are only different color versions because the material is recycled and they cant really make them all look the same. Right?

"This Eco-Mix vinyl is 100% recycled compound made of trimmed flash and leftovers from any color which cannot otherwise be reused. These pieces are then recycled and re-used for production of future discs. With Eco-Mix, every disc looks different from the last. All vinyl packaging is made from FSC® certified recycled paper/boards made 100% from post-consumer waste and recycled pre-consumer fibers. The ink used is raw plant-based and water-based dispersion varnish. In place of shrink-wrap, the sleeves are 100% recycled and re-usable. For shipping, all finished goods are packaged and shipped to depots in up to 93% recycled and 100% recyclable shipping boxes."

Sticking to her original point!

I'm just laughing but also astonished at how so many of you are falling

Wasn't the whole point that she used recycled materials to make the vinyls? How is this hypocrisy?

for greenwashing capitalist marketing and tactics… :toofunny2:

and the nerve to say that a multimillionaire artist brand and the corporation backing her aren't virtue signaling but the individual average Joe whose carbon footprint isnt in the same stratosphere as billie fuckin eilish choosing to participate in *some* form of advocacy. Please get your heads out of popgirls asses for once so you don't make gross comparisons like this…
