She is an entrepreneur who hires some of the best producers, choreographers, directors and creatives in general to make collective art under the label "Beyoncé™". "Beyoncé™", as a collective body of work, is groundbreaking. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is not. Damn yall really gotta be mad to come up with the theories that yall do. People who have actually worked with her have spoken to her knowledge and genius in her craft. She is an artist and a great business woman as told by the individuals who actually know her and have worked with her. Every last one of yall in this thread that can't accept what's being told to yall by the ones who have first hand experience actually need help fr lol. 1

attention Posted April 5 Posted April 5 the spice girls - revived pop/teen pop in the 90s after the rise of grunge & hip hop in the early 90s, was a group based on individuality unlike countless groups who were matchy matchy prior+their image was not manufactured contrary to belief, plus they wrote their own lyrics 3

PrudenceHCharmed Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) ATRL's obsession with songwriting in this thread maybe they should stan someone like Ryan Tedder, Sia or Diane Warren? Also, songwriting = Innovation? Writing a love song/break up song over and over again for over two decades (only changing the male characters) sounds innovative to you? OT: Michael with Thriller video and Beyoncé with this visual film is something that people never done before. Also, nobody really does an album with variety of genre like Lemonade. Vespertine Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Björk and Björk only. I don't know of any other pop girls who have had literal new instruments created to achieve the sounds they want. 1
Into The Void Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Well I mean many try to be innovative and I think trying means alot even if you fail

Nippy'sReceipts Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) Madonna. Madame X was criminally underrated . She was calling the establishment out . Beyonce. Also, calls the establishment out . I also think Nicki Minaj is a visionary. People may disagree but I think every album she's done has made an impact. Pink Friday started a new genre: pop/rap , then Roman Reloaded album with hyperpop, then Pinkprint with pushing Billboard to count streaming which changed the entire industry , Queen with queen radio , and now with PF2 the Gag City campaign. All of these things are visionary imo. Miley Cyrus is also visionary. She took the career Christina used to have and has done it consistently . Changing eras and sounds and inspirations succesfully. It's hard to remember she was once a Disney girl. Edited April 5 by Nippy'sReceipts
Into The Void Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Charlie Puth is a musical genius who should be an innovator if he tried to not cater to tik tok 1

Songwriting is important too. But you are right it's not everything
Cheeky Posted April 5 Posted April 5 No one. A lot of them have done groundbreaking and/or innovative things, and some do them earlier in their career and others later. I can't think of a single artist that's flipped the table everytime.
Bencharmer Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Honestly i really can't name a major pop artist that is really innovative. It feels like it's more the alley of alt pop girls like Allie X, Grimes and ofc Robyn, Bjork. But yeah Kate Bush is the Mother of Innovation. 1
BANKS Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Madonna… the fact that she's still doing her thing and not conforming to how people believe a typical 65 year-old should behave is innovative af. the GP has given her so much criticism over her age and behavior. one day, it won't be so taboo to be expressive in the way she is at her age. 2 1 1

You're making statements without any evidence, which are directly contradicted by tonnes of writers, producers, artists and creatives who work with her. Beyoncé is well known for how deeply involved she is in every aspect of her art. So for you to say she doesn't have much of a say is factually a lie. What exactly was that link supposed to prove? There are no accusations against Beyoncé in it. For such a "huge amount of evidence" you sure seem in capable with coming up with any. 1
TROPICUM Posted April 5 Posted April 5 bey, duh lana changed the game for several girlies w her debut bjork kate SOPHIE (argue w the wall, she started an entire movement that's still copied and taken influence from to this day)

Nothing innovative People just open their mouths and say anything in here right? How is Beyonce trying to be white when she has been explicitly centering her Blackness in her work since Self Titled? When the entire point of these projects is reclaiming these genres that were started by Black people? And why would she want to be white? Is white better? 1
