And it's good! I like Beyonce and she does a ton of things no one else can do. but doja really switches up everything so I'm going with her Mostly I was just curious, because I've personally found it hard to map similarities between the Cowboy Carter tracks and other album tracks. So it seemed like a big/bold claim to say this record sounds just like any other Bey album and then admit you aren't actually familiar with her discography. 3 2
suburbannature Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Currently? Beyonce. Lana if she counts Of the old guard? Mariah ("the architect of modern pop music"), Madonna, Janet

I can be familiar enough to hear patterns without knowing specific track names. It's not that serious tho. It's fine to just simply disagree

I don't think it is fair to count Britney in this tbh. We all know the conditions she was in, it's pretty sad how we've witnessed her flame being put out by her own family and vultures. Because we all know how much Britney has/had to offer. The only correct answer is Beyonce even though I'm not even a fan of hers. She's only been innovating her career and signing onto only relevant contracts that elevate her career and image. I'm not a fan of her country album but I salute her for her incredible artistic vision. Madonna had a similar pattern but lost that spark a long time ago unfortunately. I think her being lost in following trends and "what's hot" made her lose her artistic focus. I mean to go from Ray of light... to Confessions and then to the albums she'd released recently? Just criminal. Edited April 4 by TouchinFree 1 1

wish Posted April 4 Posted April 4 @TROJAN downvoting all of our posts won't change the fact that Beyoncé is one of the most innovative, respected, and successful artists of our time 2 12
Eóghan Posted April 4 Posted April 4 nowadays? Beyonce she's the only one experimenting with her music, pulling it off and having an impact. i don't even stan beyonce like that, i only admire and like her music as a casual, but you can't deny it there's no one doin it like her unfortunately. It's very sad. even people who don't stan her are admitting it in this very thread. 3

Movimento Perpétuo Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Not this thread already being a mess OT: definitely Beyoncé

Can you point to me where I said otherwise? Because, honey, I know all of that and I've been preaching Donna's legacy for like 5 years. I was just joking that she doesn't fit this thread since it's about artists who are currently innovative and groundbreaking. Edited April 4 by Virgos Groove
Thor Posted April 4 Posted April 4 People saying Beyonce. She isn't doing anything innovative and groundbreaking. Many before have already done what she's doing and she is pretty much taking what's already been done and just putting a lil bit of her twist on it with the help of many other artists and serving it to a new generation so no, there's nothing innovative or groundbreaking about it. Those "poptism" Metacritic scores have made y'all extra deluded. Anyway, currently there's literally no artist who is truly innovative and groundbreaking. 3 14
