Magickarp Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Yuh I get OK vibes too, & it could pull an OK smasha if she plays her cards right & actually works but she won't 1

There are subtle elements in this song that set it apart from that. Like the pre-chorus, the bells, the instrumental part towards the end. Don't even mind them, it's just ignorance at this point. It's giving Americans not being able to name a single country kind of energy 2 2

We should just keep them saying those things at every release. It's a bit annoying I know but what make me laugh is that with every new realese the previous single is like her best song and better than the new one We should just enjoying this bop and those pop-perfection releases, she's serving with music this era!
GuyNextDoor Posted April 12 Posted April 12 It isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's really catchy. I don't see how this fits in the psychedelic music she's aiming for though. It could've been a nice song in the Moonlight Edition. Excited for the album regardless. 1 hour ago, Archetype said: This sort of sounds like Zara / H&M background music… but the biggest disappointment is how Danny and Tame produced something so bland. Imagine producing Caroline Polachek's Desire and then putting this out. Also just so y'all know, I love Dua and hope she smashes with anything. This one just isn't for me. I agree with the H&M background music comment, but not you using the music of that Caroline girl as an example of good music. It is unlistenable.
The 1 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Training Season is better. I think She will not have a smash this Era

Popular Post Relampago. Posted April 12 Popular Post Posted April 12 I really wish I could understand what people aren't connecting with this era… like all 3 songs are some of the best songs I've heard since maybe Renaissance? All the deep analysis is way too much for me when the music is just fun and carefree. I really don't want the tepid response to this era to make Dua and her team feel like she NEEDS to switch it up. When artists lose sight of what they want to do, it really damages the quality of the music. For better or for worse (and it's better for me), all 3 songs feel very Dua and like she's very much enjoying what she's putting out. I love that. As for the FN comparisons, music wise… I really don't get it. RO's singles just completely blow DSN/FN/Physical out of the water for me, and I love those songs too. FN as an album is also amazing and one of my favorites of all time but there are some very big stinkers on that album for how short it is, despite the incredibly high highs. What I can see as a critique for FN against RO is that FN was giving us a pop star who was hungry to prove herself, and then she did. Now, with RO she's proven herself and now feels more cool, controlled and confident which may read as her being a bit less ambitious, and so the songs sort of lack that hunger. I don't agree personally, beyond the fact that I do think she is having more relaxed fun this era than she was with FN era, but I can still pinpoint that as a reason why people maybe aren't connecting with the music as much overall. All that being said, for people saying that her music is formulaic and lacking identity.. maybe Dua just isn't the artist for you. I don't want her to suddenly start making songs about her depression or other deeper topics if she really doesn't have anything to express with that. What I love about Dua's music, and why she's the first artist since stanning Rih that has made me feel this way, is that she just makes bops and makes me feel good, like a bad b*tch. That's all I really need from my artists. I don't need personal narratives I can't relate to, and I don't need any type of emotional music to make me connect with an artist. I just want something I can enjoy while also believing the artist is enjoying it too. The people in here trying to solve some kind of wicked problem with Dua and her career are kind of tiring because there… really isn't an issue? Like if you're not connecting with the music or Dua, then it's just not for you and that's okay. Maybe you liked FN but that's one part of her discography, so go listen to that. Dua is sticking to her vision, doing what she wants to do, and generally her fans seem to love it— I know I do. Just let people enjoy the music, there's really no need to analyze things like her career is imploding and she's suddenly recording leftover Selena Gomez demos from 2014. Give her songs a listen then keep it moving. 16 1

THIS make sense now She should have said that she wants to do dance music with more live instruments involved 1

Well DSN , BMH & especially Levitating were pop songs easy to hear , perfect for pop radio , GP friendly ... these 3 are Gay Bops for the Gay Discos This when it comes to success Now when it comes to some critisism FROM the gays .. Houdini is a masterpiece , TS is great but there is smth off that i cant explain and Illusion is somewhere between 1

Virgos Groove Posted April 12 Posted April 12 The church bells in the final chorus, oh Dua the MUSICIAN that you are 2
Relampago. Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Also, it's been said already but Houdini was 1000% the right choice as the lead. Illusion is the most commercial of the 3 songs for sure and I can see how it was supposed to serve as the bridge between FN and RO, but could you imagine the lashings of her releasing this after Dance the Night with the "dance all night, dance all night" part of Illusion too? Like Houdini already got dragged left and right for being too similar to FN (how or why? I have no clue whatsoever) I can only imagine how bad it would have been for us if Illusion came out first 2
MP3 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Hope we'll get a live version of that song, even if awards season are over for now, maybe the MET?
Migs Posted April 12 Posted April 12 This is perfection! A true ear-candy The music video is already one of my favorite of hers. I wish there were more of this part: ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!! 1

People comparing this to Becky Hill or Zara Larsson like they could EVER have an instrumental this good. This is summery dance-pop done RIGHT 1
mike_int Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Im not a fan of Kevin Parker production at all but ... not some of you calling "Illusion" bland when there is literally two types of pianos, bells, ethic strings, french-house synth, house flute, acoustic drums and various vocal production fxs all in one 3 minute tracks 6 2 1
Britneystan32 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 It's a brilliant song! It will do well just like her other singles! Houdini was amazing and did great on the charts! This will do great too she keeps giving hits!
