Is that why Dr Luke owns the majority of the song's publishing?!

let's be real

ok all the singles she released so far are fun bops but the truth y'all don't want to hear is that she's regressing compared to Future Nostalgia when she should be gettin bolder and more creative with the productions while maintaining their commercial appeal.

honestly I can pick any track from most of FN and it's better/more intricate than any of the singles she released so far. it's a shame because the voice and melodies are kinda giving but the production is not giving what she thinks. it's a step back.

No one will ever convince me Houdini/Training Season/Illusion aren't more intricate than snooze fests like Cool, Pretty Please, BWBB. Even FN and Physical aren't the revolutionary collapses people say they are. FN is a very fun and fine song, and Physical is a very on-the-nose and exact replica of what the imagery was. They're all just great pop songs, and maybe you don't feel like Houdini/TS/Illusion are, and that's fine, but that's not a regression, that's your opinion :deadbanana4:

Some people are disappointed that the album doesn't seem to be doing anything particularly fresh or new.

This song sounds like something Danni Minogue would have released 20 years ago.

I personally think it sounds great but can see people that gassed themselves up about the album being the second coming being worked up.

just like i said about Renaissance,

it is too gay sounding to be bonafide smash hit among all layer of gp

The snippet sounds great. The US will probably be too stupid to appreciate it but quality music is more important anyways.

The rollout is a bit bizarre though. I'm not sure why they wouldn't just wait until the album release to push another single, but maybe they're only planning on pushing this internationally to let Training Season grow in the US more?

I used to think folklore was the most overrated album of all time and now I think it could be Future Nostalgia even though I love it cause the way people just completely ignore the fatal flaws of that album with their rose colored glasses is :deadbanana4:

When we get the underwhelming music video of her lounging by a pool then what. I've come to expect the least.

With that said, I slammed this song earlier and now it's stuck in my head. The sorcery.

I'm terrified because this sounds like the first thing I don't like about this era.

Glad she's releasing one more single before the album drops .

So yet another hate train for a song which is probably going to be pulling 2.5M daily for the next 5 months?

Good luck ODHs! :eli:

And this is why I think it is good to release the single before the album. It will be a slow burn kinda song that will peak in 5-6 months…the sooner the better.

and the most liked track upon the release from the GP should be single #4

I actually agree that FN is neither that great nor that conceptually on-point (half of it is as nostalgic as Training Season is UK rave psychedelic) but Physical remains her best song and this is complete nonsense.

Also the fact that Pretty Please caught strays but you didn't come for Good In Bed is suspicious

No, but when Houdini didn't do the numbers they wanted, they brought in Brandon Davis to advise, who oversaw the Barbie soundtrack. He is the VP and pop music A&R at Atlantic Records and, for those that care, is Ava Max's A&R in the US and one of the people that signed her at APG before her Atlantic deal.

Seeing as the vinyls for the album had to be done before Houdini was released, let's see if your theory is correct when comparing this Illusion to the Illusion on the physicals

No. Emily Warren one of the co writers is signed to Luke's publishing company

Illusion, TS, Houdini and Album covers were shot at the same time, she has silver nails in all of them, so it was pretty much decided what pre-album singles were going to be….

I just googled. Emily Warren under Prescription Records (Dr Luke's publishing under Sony) wrote it, so he gets a cut. Sarah Hudson who is also under him also wrote Levitating and Physical, so pretty much the Future Nostalgia era made him a bunch of money:noparty:
