Khal Posted April 2 Posted April 2 She's right, that's the unfortunate position the US voters are in, with one of the choices being slightly worse. However, as a public figure that's advocating for one side, I'm not sure it's a good idea to just say that. 3

She lost mainly due to poor black people in the Midwest collasping in turnout. Are you suggesting there should be some hatred and anger to this group of people and not the politician who forgot to campaign in Wisconsin? People still demonizing working class black Americans doesn't speak well of the Biden campaign. Edited April 2 by Communion 14 1

The majority of the money Republicans are taking right now is going directly to Trump's legal fund, not to downballot local and state races. They have hitched everything onto a sinking ship, now is our chance to really tank the GOP. And if Republican wins, you can kiss goodbye to democracy since Trump is going batshit crazy and unhinged over all his charges. Not to mention SC would lose 2 more seats to young Republican lawmakers and that would be the reddest SC in modern history. 7
JanStan Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I'm currently in the not voting camp. This isn't a lesser of two evils situation. They are both equally trash and a disaster for the country. 10 1 3

Both parties have been complicit in the erosion of our democracy for decades. And both have intentionally opposed any necessary reforms to address that. Republicans are certainly worse but democrats are taking us to the same place. I'm at a point where I would rather face the attack Trump poses now while our institutions are strong enough to resist than in 10 years when we are in a worse position. 3 1

19SLAYty9 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 She's right. The Republican Party platform didnt become pro life until after Reagan. Why did they do that? Pro lifers came out in every primary and general for 20 years before that. They proved they were a reliable voting block.
ZeroSuitBritney Posted April 2 Posted April 2 She's learned absolutely nothing from her deserved embarrassing 2016 loss. Worthless hag! 2 1

So you're saying that if the pro-ceasefire voters turn out for Biden we could get a ceasefire in Gaza in 20 years?

That's unfortunately how American democracy works. It's easier to negotiate with someone within your party vs a Republican. 1

Unless they have a real chance you might as well vote for Britney Spears and equally toss your vote and future away for the sake of patting yourself on the shoulder and virtue signaling. Every American who hasn't yet moved across the world has been funding genocide and will continue to do so under Trump.

You show up in every primary for local, state, federal races and vote for the most progressive candidate. If they win, show up in the general, if they lose, show up anyways because at least that more moderate candidate will be closer to your beliefs. If the progressives win the generals in local elections, they'll be the candidates running for state offices some day, then federal offices, etc. which is what will lead to change. Republicans hate Susan Collins. But they still vote for her. Why? Because at the end of the day she does what the party heads tell her and they'd rather that Republican who votes with them 70% of the time than a democrat who votes with them 10% of the time. im pro ceasefire obviously but this isn't an issue that will change in 4 years. Progress takes time. We need to show up in every primary and general even when it sucks.

You think climate change, MAGA fascists, genocide, and forced birth can wait 20 years?

Would you rather someone who moves towards what you want and over time will continue to move or someone who will move the opposite direction? radical change for the better just isn't possible within the parameters of American democracy.
