CallumDavies Posted March 29 Posted March 29 ATRL agreeing that Renaissance and Cowboy Carter are both masterpieces 1
KevinDG Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I chose Renaissance but I had to listen several times to it to really love it so maybe that's also the case with Cowboy Carter.
Reginald Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Renaissance was an excellent album full of tracks I still revisit. Cowboy Carter.. Yeah, no.
CaptainMusic Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) Renaissance made me love Beyoncé, I liked Lemonade and a lot of her songs but thought she was a bit overrated in the 2010s. But Renaissance deserved the hype. Cowboy Carter is good too but not on the same level. Edited March 29 by CaptainMusic 1
goverm3nth0ker Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) renaissance cuz my ass hasnt stopped twerking ever since. ...but definitely i will twerk riding my horse with cowboy carter this holy week lol. Edited March 29 by goverm3nth0ker

This was my exact same experience too After Renaissance I went back to listen to her older stuff and I was like oh...now I get it
airplane Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) Cowboy Carter is a massive downgrade from Renaissance. It's like going from an iphone to android. I only like 4-5 songs on Cowboy while Renaissance has zero skips. I loved seeing that on tour but this album isn't tour worthy at all It's bloated with interludes and fillers. half the **** doesn't make sense and contributes nothing to the album. It's all over the place. a senseless, bloated playlist of randomness. I hope act 3 is better than this :/ This won't get her the AOTY she wants so bad.. I'm just disappointed so excuse the meltdown. Renaissance is my second fave album of all time Edited March 29 by airplane 2
OrgVisual Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Still Ren for me. A skipless and flawless album The way everything flows together is chef's kiss
Sannie Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Rennie is the kind of album you expect from an artist at Beyonce's caliber. It was referential yet exciting and new, and it pushed a lot of boundaries IMO. Cowboy Carter is just Beyonce trying to win AOTY. Its desperation is palpable, but I do appreciate the effort.

Marianah Adkins Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I dont know what yall are hearing cuz Rennie is not that good. Honestly the one Beyonce album where I'm perplexed by its acclaim. It feels so reductive for her tbh Cowboy on the other hand
DiamondHeart Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Renaissance I liked from first listen but it took me while to really love the whole album from start to finish. Great album experience meant to be listened to all at once, just amazing. Cowboy Carter is not blowing me away at all, and it's not the genre I listen to the most. I recognize it's all quality work but maybe it also will as time passes.
