“Euphoria” Season 3 has been delayed at HBO.

“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

The scripts for Season 3 are still being written. The news comes after a report that the show’s third season has been scrapped entirely.

Production on the show’s third season had long been delayed, in part due to the Hollywood strikes and the July 2023 death of Angus Cloud, who played local drug dealer Fez. The show has also launched most of its cast — including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer — into the upper echelon of Hollywood, making it harder to coordinate production schedules.

In November 2023, HBO confirmed that the show’s third season was expected to premiere in 2025, meaning there would be at least a three-year gap between seasons since Season 2 debuted in January 2022. Due to the length of time in between seasons, rumors had been swirling that Season 3 would take place after a five-year time jump.

Variety is the industry leader on accurate TV news. Considering the source you posted yesterday had it wrong, yes, this is a “valid” source.

That person is right a lot of the times. He just tends to steal tea from people that are going to break exclusives

As far as your edit, there's a 0% chance this show continues :toofunny3:

Perhaps they still negotiating new $$$ contracts adjustment, especially Sydney Sweeney.

They should just do a time jump and focus on Rue's battle with addiction as a 20-something. Let go of the other characters.

Season 1 was one of the best episodes of TV in recent years while the second was a disaster that focused on viral moments

They should just make a movie about it and wrap it up if they cant get everyone to commit for a long time

You can’t film a show if the scripts aren’t completed. Not sure why you automatically assume this means the show will be canceled. High quality shows have gone upwards of 4 years between seasons while pre-production was being worked on/stars scheduled were in play.

Because this show now has multiple big names attached. Names that are booking themselves well into 2025/2026 with projects

Not to mention people are tired of long breaks between seasons and the creator/show runner is a creep and people are coming around to that. Look at what happened when he took over The Idol :hippo:

Scripts not being done despite the most recent episode airing over 2 years ago is pathetic. That combined with what I said above makes for a mess of a situation and season 3 will most likely never happen

Season 3 is going to be so expensive for them since half the cast are movie stars now.

everyone's about to hit 30 when they decide to green light it :deadbanana2: they might as well just film a community college edition while they're at it
