Michael Jackson is the most searched for in Google history sis: 1. Michael Jackson 2. Britney Spears 3. Lady Gaga 4. Adele 5. Taylor Swift And this is with freaking Obama: 1. Michael Jackson 2. Barack Obama You need to do the research. 2

If you took away the US traffic from all three Taylor would fall far behind Gaga and Adele.

I'm specifically referring to Millennials and younger, considering it's much harder for a millennial artist to become just as big, if not bigger amongst the next two younger generations. I guess Adele would maybe be the opposite, as she is a millennial who attracted the next two older generations, but I would argue they are slightly easier to capture. Michael Jackson had a chokehold on the boomers who were young adults at the time, he had a chokehold on the generation of the parents of those young adults and children born after he broke through like the millennials. Jackson was listened to by the black community and the white community. By men and women alike. He was listened to by the average metal fan and the average pop fan. He catered to both gays and the heterosexuals. That's why he was so humongous and Taylor does not reach that level of widespread adoration. In terms of women in US music history? Potentially yes but not in terms of overall as she has Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and The Beatles in front of her. Edited March 26 by BrandNewBrandon 2

And, funnily enough, Adele was in the news for the 30 rollout just as much for dating Rich Paul(Lebron's manager) as the music itself so it's pretty ironic. There were many news segments about Adele and Rich Paul being together.
Storm653 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Gaga and Adele had bigger global peaks but Taylor's long hot streak is insane, especially since she's been steadily growing in many global markets. Keep in mind, too, that having "global impact" doesn't automatically make you the better artist. Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and Eminem have had bigger global impacts than 75% of our faves but I don't think anybody's going to claim that they're musically superior due to that. Some people are just going to be more famous or popular than others globally. Prince was never huge outside North America and Europe but his legacy is still in tact. Also, people overseas mostly prefer their own local acts most of the time even though American/Western artists will still get checked for if they stand out in some way.
