Doesn't the new Tv spot confirm there's more than one killer? there's one in front of Sam and Tara's yelling at another one

Scream 4 at times seems like literally a parody of Scream. The “**** Bruce Willis” line is the worst in the franchise. Takes out all stakes.

at least 4 felt like a Scream film. 3 was some Scary Movie level of spoofing. pete's sake they have a cameo from Jay and Silent Bob. the idea of those two franchises existing in the same universe is a riot

4 felt like a joke..it was horrible..scream 3 was better and it was the best conclusion as a trilogy for the franchise.... Sidney's story should have ended there and all the other sequels should have been with new characters ..

Nah I enjoy scream 3 a lot for its campiness but a lot of what makes scream so great is watered down because of the circumstances of that film. There’s barely any use of the iconic voice because of that bizarre voice box, the kills are not nearly as thoughtful, and the killer and his motive retconning Billy and Stu diminishes scream 1 in ways. Throwing in her brother last minute always felt random asf to me especially when he reveals to Sidney and she’s got absolutely no idea who tf he is bc she’s never seen his face before lmao

Agree with all of this. There are certainly things to enjoy about Scream 3, but it really doesn't feel like a proper entry in the franchise. With Kevin leaving, the studio pushing for less violence on account of Columbine, wasting Cotton, and the worst ghostface reveal (in my opinion) it just doesn't hold up compared to its counterparts.

Yes, Parker and Courteney are hilarious and it is a fun watch but I think it lacks, as you said, what makes Scream so great. I will say, however, it always surprises me that they were able to incorporate a plotline that more or less describes Harvey Weinstein's predatory behavior in Hollywood despite him executive producing it. It gives the film an added layer on rewatches now.

That ladder scene is going to give me anxiety!

I rank the films...1, 2, 5, 4, 3. And I like all of them. :heart2:

I would be so down for them to retcon Parker’s death bc she was half of what made that movie so fun! And to that point it really is so eerie how aligned that storyline is with Weinstein, it almost felt like the writers were trying to subconsciously tell the audience something.

People focus way too much on Kevin leaving and the Columbine shooting changing Scream 3, the movie itself is still a proper Scream film. Kevin’s Stu cult idea and high school setting for Scream 3 sounded boring anyway.

The idea of a ghost face cult sounds mad corny and I hope they don’t bring it to any of the new films

Yes! Totally agree with both points!

3 gets a bad wrap for its last 15 minutes but IMO it’s the best one behind the first … or at least very equally tied with the second

4 was unspectacular but serviceable and 5 is a complete joke. but i still watch them all tho.

I think S3 would've been improved if there was a better build up to Ghostface's reveal (i.e. Sidney and Roman interacting a few times before the showdown started in Act 3).

i don’t know that anything could have saved the reveal tbh just cuz it was so left field …

i will say tho , u can kind of legitimize the out-of-nowhere-ness of the twist if u contextualize it with the movie-within-movie (within a movie..) of Scream 3 itself. it’s not necessarily any more out-there or retconned than what George Lucas did with Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader family connection off the success of the first Star Wars (which IMO makes the Carrie Fisher cameo very intentional). if anything it kinda felt like Kevin and Wes we’re winking to the audience with just how silly it was, and the ending of Scream 3 also functions a lot better as the bookend to the series as it was intended to be. it’s not perfect , but Scream 3 was waaaaaaayyyy too maligned at the time and i think a lot of the negative reception behind it was because traditional slashers were flatlining again in the early 2000s and the goodwill Scream earned with the first (and second) movie had worn off.

Scream 3 remains superior and it’s legacy lives on. I mean everybody remembers Miss Weathers’ bangs to this day.

I enjoyed the opening scene with Cotton. I thought it was tense and a nice re-introduction to the Scream-world after S2. I also enjoyed the development of Maureen Prescott’s character and the whole back story to that character and her fate. It was fun and campy at times, but I’m convinced that S3 was essentially trying to tell a pointed story about the intricacies and perversions of film-making Hollywood. The abuse, sexualisation and vulnerabilities that exist within that world.

I also loved the feeling of characters teaming up to solve the murders. There was none of that really in S5, which I think brought the film down. A lot of what made S3 enjoyable was seeing these characters caring for each other, coming together against the killer and trying to survive as well as demasking the killer in the end. I think S3 had nice moments of intimacies between Gale, Dewey and Sidney (and Kincaid :chick1:).

Sara death scene was legendary (although a bit short, could’ve been longer). The house scene before it blows up and they roll down the hill willy nilly was fun. Carrie Fisher and Parker Posey carried. The scene with Randy’s sister and watching the VHS tape of Randy was heartfelt and full of soul. Also, the last act in Roman’s mansion was also great and full of suspense, me thinks. The scene with Gale and Dewey in the basement, although somewhat goofy, was tense to watch and it still get me when I rewatch. I enjoyed Roman as ghost face and how they did the reveal. Perhaps a bit far fetched but no more than Richie and Amber going berserk with the weakest of motives.

I actually liked the fight between Sid and her brother. I also liked how violent and brutal Roman was. And when she kills him and they hold hands …. Oh shivers!

So yeah, nobody come and stomp on S3 when S5 has entered the room and deserves all the battering.
