thetea Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I just saw the film and heres my thoughts. It was pretty obvious to me who the killers were. Spoiler We never saw Quinn actually get murdered so I knew she would probably be one of the killers. The killers put so much effort into killing people brutally but why would she get killed off screen. Then when we found out that the original masks were being found at the scenes, that Quinn and her dad must've been behind the murders. As a police officer, it would be easier for him to steal all of that stuff than it would be for anyone else too. What did surprise me was the addition of a 3rd killer. It was so fresh in the franchise and I loved it. I thought that Gale was going to die and I would've been really mad if she did, she's been in the franchise way too long for them to kill her off at this point. I loved the comedic aspect in the movie. I found myself laughing through a lot of the movie and it was great. Some of the acting was a bit questionable though, when some of the cast (especially Mindy) were being stabbed, i found myself laughing at it because of how comical their acting was. The motive of this film was way stronger than scream 5, when I left Scream 5, I still felt unsure about what their motive was but this one was great. It really reminded me of the motive of Scream 2 and it's such a strong motive to kill. Mindy was my favourite character in the movie, her character had so many funny but meta moments. I'm glad that they significantly cut down on the stab references, those were getting so old. Chad is so hot, I couldn't stop looking at him in the movie.

Especially the scene when Tara and Sam were being harassed by the media, I'm sure it's the exact same music that was in Scream 1-2 when Sydney was being harassed. I didn't like the usage of the music they play in Dewey's scenes in the movie, especially since he died in 5.
eclipsed Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 had a great time watching this. 5 was decent but i enjoyed this way more. loved the scenery change, all the setups with ghostface were really well done. i liked that they spent more time fleshing out these characters so there are actual stakes, gale was iconic, jenna was amazing, i didn't find sam as annoying this time around. samara weaving killed it also and honestly maybe this is a bad take but i was never really a sidney fan, so i didn't miss her, i always found gale to be more iconic that being said i hope they do sort something out with neve in the future, i think the more surprises the longer the franchise will last. my only real issue was them being afraid to kill any of the core 4. people were getting stabbed left and right only to survive, it wore off by the end. i do like the core 4 and i'm glad they took the time to develop them more, tara and chad are really cute but for scream 7 i hope there isn't so much plot amour. i was genuinely scared for gale tho, i was like theres no way they are gonna kill her without sidney present. also the killer was way to predictable right from the beginning, i knew quinn wasn't really dead and that it would be a father/daughter duo. i didn't suspect 3 but ethan was irrelevant anyway.
misa amane Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Spoiler for scream 7 i think its time for our first black ghostface should be mindy or chad
kyris89 Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Spoiler I 've just watched Radio Silence's interview with the dead meat guys. And OMG. Did you guys know that Melissa, the crew and the rest of the cast were aware of the negative reception of Sam's character and the nasty comments about her acting skills? And in S6, when she's in the kitchen and says something like "it's not nice to be hated" and she cries, it is a reference to this situation. Good that she proved all the haters wrong

Good that she proved all the haters wrong I don’t think she was bad in 5, the writing was just not good and she did what she could. She was fantastic in 6 imo

ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted March 17, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted March 17, 2023 I’m kind of surprised Radio Silence have two other films going on and that Paramount is taking so long to officially green-light Scream 7
Chris Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Off screen kills don't always mean that the people killed are the eventual killers. Didn't Quinn's fling get killed off screen? Why didn't anyone suspect him?

That’d allow them to shoot it in Q1/Q2 of next year and with Radio Silence’s packed schedule, it might work.

I stabbed him 22 times and slit his throat then shot him in the head I'm just gonna tase you in the balls real quick I want you to think long & hard about this cause the last 2 people who f*cked with us ended up dead You're gonna die you know Looks like you're down another brother He was a man-baby who made his girlfriend do all the killing He was a limp-d*ck little f*ck who cried before I slit his throat You're in MY movie Probably the one who's still alive But you did f*ck with our family so... Points were made. I forgot how many good lines Sam had in this movie. I really can't wait to see this again. Waiting to see it with a friend hoping she's free this weekend to go see it.
paddii_ Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Spoiler So like 5 was an homage to 1, 6 is to 2. Will 7 be to 3? I guess we will see. overall thought it was pretty mid on first watch. Will definitely watch it again tho. Hoping I like it more

BNF91 Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Early Friday estimate: $5.3M Spring break definitely pumped up the weekday box office.. Friday jumps are a bit muted. Could still go up though, but if that holds then $16-17.5M is more likely this weekend. Not a bad hold either way.
