Check - New love interest that was a suspect up until the reveal? Check - Van scene? Check - Final act happens at a theater? Check - New killers related to the killer from the previous film? Check - Motive: Revenge? Check
wantedyoutogrow Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 there are a lot of parallers betwen 6 and 2 and y'all really can't deny it but still scream 6 >>> scream 2 y'all can argue with the wall
Sweetestsecret Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) The movie had the 2nd best start for a horror movie since the Pandemic with a cumulative 1st Day in France of 76,914 admissions (including 25,882 previews) on 427 sites. This is significantly more than Scream of 2022 (34,201 entries) Edited March 9, 2023 by Sweetestsecret
Wrecked Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I just got out of seeing the film for a second time as my friend asked if I wanted to see it and I enjoyed it even more on a rewatch. I now think it’s one of the strongest sequels they’ve done. I think I just had to let some things settle in as sometimes I find it hard to make my mind up on a first view. Best horror franchise did that.
Uncatena Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Spoiler One of my favorite moments was Sam correcting Bailey and saying that Amber did most of the killings, dragging Richies limp dick ass lmao
Hurem Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Ugh, the fact that I won't be able to see it again until next Wednesday. I hate it here

She’s such a bad *****!
Wrecked Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Did anybody else hate… Spoiler Seeing Anika get brutalised? She was such a cute character. The way Scream constantly make likeable characters and forces you to watch them die.

That's the whole point of these movies... they make you care for the character and then you're forced to watch them die in awful ways. But if I had any power over these movies I'd make her survive and Chad die. I don't even hate Chad but he shouldn't even have survived the previous one, let alone this one
Dragonfly Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I love ´act3´ of Scream(2022), but the buildup was quite boring. This felt way more entertainining throughout. I did predict the motive when that girl mentioned a dead brother, but I never expected three killers. I had fun
Lemon Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 The movie is a KILLER. I knew it would be epic. The best sequel. New setting helped fleshing the story ( and the characters ) more. I would have enjoyed another 2 hours. It does rely heavily onto one being in-the-know to appreciate it to the full potential though, but meta edge was handled better than in both Scream 4 and 5. Spoiler Apartment scene, subway scene and the third act were all perfectly paced and TENSE. Scream franchise just won’t let up easily.
QueenBLadyG Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) The first 3 remain superior in every possible way. This was the best of the new bunch though. I'm pleasantly surprised. And Melissa actually had me emotional and feeling bad for her, an improvement. Chad was the heart of the film. The "Core 4" is cute. I loved Anika and Quinn. You wouldn't even know this was set in NY if they said nothing. It's the same set up as Scream 2. College campus life with a bodega scene. Scream Scream 2 Scream 3 Scream 6 Scream 4 Scream 5 Edited March 9, 2023 by QueenBLadyG

A lot of horror movies have the most annoying characters that you can’t wait to see die, but Scream just has so many great characters. I’m glad the ‘core four’ are still here, but I’m surprised Chad survived yet another brutal knife attack. I can imagine him or Mindy dying in a seventh instalment, but I don’t want that to happen. 😭
Wrecked Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I don’t even know how I’d begin to rank these movies. I legitimately love each one for different reasons. It’s so hard to even compare them at this stage.
Dragonfly Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 In my movie theater, the fire alarm went off for like 2 seconds, and suddenly the movie had skipped forward about 10 minutes. Apparently it happened to every movie that was playing at the time... The audience was pissed It took them about 5 minutes to reset it
BeachRat Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 it was definitely better than 5 NOT better than the original first 2 which are, was and will always be the definition of ICONIC. the opening scene from the first movie will always be the best thing that ever happened to horror. and the cinema scene from 2 will never be topped as well. whoever said that THIS was better than those ones is crazy. HOWEVER the movie was FIRE! the TENSION was there with maaany iconic chase scenes! the bodega. the subway (UGH!) the house. everything. completely loved it! we stan! cant wait for 7 which will probably be the last one but i hope they turn it the **** up with the plot and give a MAJOR twist. cause that is much needed now. thats alllll
Lemon Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) I agree that the first three movies are somehow in their own lane. This franchise is showing its age ( not negatively necessarily ), because it actully is a series/continuitaion from the very first start in 1996. And that feels through these movies, but the series defies span of these 25+ years and make it work. But this 6th part is definitely close to the first three movies. It is scary, tense, brutal, cheeky and it mostly cuts it. Chad is heart of the movie indeed. His improvement from the last part is evident - he is more effortlessly casually successful at bringing goofy side out of him. The same goes to Mindy, who is better at conveying her geeky side a la Randy as opposed to her a bit of woodden standing in Scream 5. Tara was equally good, but more involved, while Sam is definitely upping her game - she is now more convincing. Scream 5 was definitely walking for Scream 6 to be able to be running gloriously and wildly like this though, so this franchise consists of parts that are different kinds of connective tissue. Spoiler Also, did Gale live or die? Are they leaving us about her in the dark a la Kirby in Scream 4? Or I missed something in particular? It’s true about Scream 2 and 6 sharing the most similiarities. The public attacks first and foremost, which are nastier here. I am feeling about this one the same way I feel about the first three ones. Edited March 9, 2023 by Lemon

Actually, i am not a big fan of the Scream 2 opening scene and here's why: How did Ghostface know that Phil would 1.) go to the toilet and 2.) go into the cabin? Doesn't really make that much sense to me and was kinda just luck. And i also kinda hated Jada Pinkett's over-acting. I actually think that her acting was not much different to Regina Hall's parody in Scary Movie. 9 minutes ago, Lemon said: Hide contents Also, did Gale live or die? SealitwithaJ Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Just got back from the cinema, omg this was SO good. Definitely up there as one of the best, I really enjoyed Scream 5 but this was way better. Also have to give props to Melissa, I didn't love her acting in Scream 5, but I thought she was brilliant in this one, so much better!
