arceus Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Better than Scream 5. The post-credit scene is iconic
Hurem Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Let me gather my thoughts real quick I'm kinda gagged 80% on RT with 86 reviews at the moment
TheBoss Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Not this universal acclaim, WE LOVE TO SEE IT (Sadly I'll have to wait for my significant other to come back from Brasil on the weekend to go watch it together, I literally can't wait)
Attitude Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Screaming at most of the standard screenings in my area being empty. At my showing it's me and my friend and 4 other people.
Hurem Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Girlies, does anyone have the clip that leaked on Reddit 20ish days ago? I kinda wanna see it now DM me
Uncatena Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Oh also, don’t bother watching this in 3D. It’s not really well done (some shots are really blurry), it’s distracting and apart from like… two shots it’s not engrossing either. Definitely going to try and see it again in 2D.
Kevin2803 Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) This was waaaaaay better than "Scream" (2022). Better chase scenes, better kills, great pacing, way more gore, amusing but still not overly comedic. This really is one of the scariest entries in the franchise and that's thanks to the setting. New York was just a great choice. But, AND DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE, they need to start to take more risks. Having both twins survive was just overkill. I know, Chad was probably a hommage to Dewey but come on. I almost cried during the Gale scene. I really thought this was it for a second. And the killer reveal: I prefer it over Richie and Amber (and Roman) and see it as a hommage to "Scream 2", with the whole revenge motive. But it was too obvious. Before the movie, i wrote a friend a list of all three suspects and i was right. There were two or three scenes that made it toooo obvious, like the "off-screen" death and the comment about the dead brother. Some things also didn't make sense. Edited March 8, 2023 by Kevin2803
HungryByTheBuffet Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 @ that user who said I'm insensitive for bringing my GF mask - cinema staff wore it too and there were 2 other girls in FULL GF costume robe included! we took pics together

I suspected Ethan when i saw the trailer and i also wrote a friend today that i think he and Quinn and Detective Bailey are the killers and i was right. Quinn's comment about her dead brother was already too much and her not seeing Ghostface right next to her and also her "Off-screen death" were super suspicious. But how is it possible that Detective Bailey works for the police under a false name? MASSIVE SPOILERS ETC For real for real that scene when he mentioned he now has 2 dead kids I straight up thought it was a red herring for how obvious it was he was talking about Richie what with the S2 parallels, and I went in thinking he'd be the main GF and that scene made me think ok no he's just a red herring

I don't want anyone living out their Maureen fantasy on me.

I thought it was too spoilery and didn't want someone to accidentally click on it and changed it a bit and now it is still there. The funny thing is i posted a theory about Tara and Kirby potentially being GF and my motive for her was almost the same as the red herring they used for Kirby in the movie Edited March 8, 2023 by Kevin2803
Uncatena Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 I agree that the killers were a tiny bit predictable but at the same time Spoiler it really couldn’t have been anyone else. They did have me thinking for a second that Kirby was involved but that just made me more sure the detective was one of the GF. i did however truly think Mindy was going to be the third killer. Would’ve kind of preferred it too tbh.
Hurem Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Do not open unless you've seen the movie I'm gonna do this chronologically Opening was a great twist, I was kinda gagged when the killer took off his mask. Him finding his partnered butchered in the fridge was amazing, but I wish the dude's (can't remember his name) death was a bit longer and he had put on some kind of fight. Also realized I'm not a fan of Ghostface talking in person. I can't really remember the part after the opening because I found it a bit boring actually. Made me worried about the film at first. Therapist's death was also a bit short for my taste, a Vince tea. Gale going back to her roots was cute, but they kinda completely copy/pasted the punching scene from the original Scream? Like, they couldn't make it a tiny bit original? Shrine reveal was a niceway to showcase how many people were victims of Ghostface, not just Sidney. Hallucinations have got to go though The whole ladder sequence, and everything prior to it, was great. One of the most emotional scenes in the entire franchise, imo. Gale's scene really left my jaw on the floor, they made me think she was dead for a second. I kinda hoped she would try to take off the mask though. Subway scene kept me on my toes, even though we've seen most of it in the promo For some reason I was convinced Ethan was gonna attack her unmasked The whole reveal setup was great, I really thought it was Kirby - and not gonna lie, I was into it Chad looking at Tara while being stabbed left, right and center was completely heartwrenching. An entire family being behind the kills was gaggy, even more because it was Richy's family. A nice twist to Scream 2's motive. I love that we got to see Richy's fanmade Stab movies and his father being so proud of them. Miss Quinn's fake out death... I didn't see it coming, even though I totally should've since we did not see it at all Overall thoughts: I feel they've got the good thing going on here. My friend, who's not a big Scream fan like me, liked all the connections to the previous films and I feel GP is gonna like it as well. Writing was the worst part of the movie. I'm sorry, but it was really bad. Mindy's character is so one dimensional it's painful to watch. I hope she gets more depth in Scream 7, because majority of her lines being "you're my suspect" or "maybe you're the killer" are not the tea. Sam's character was miles better than it was in Scream (2022), which I believe is due to writing being better for Melissa. I'm glad Danny didn't die and I hope we get to see him in the sequel. Even though I'm glad no big characters died this time around, they need to cut someone off in Scream 7 - preferably Mindy. I didn't think of Sidney not once during the movie She is not missed whatsoever. Post credit scene made me cackle out loud Entire staff was laughing at us who waited to see it ddd

Yog Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 @Hurem Spoiler I absolutely agree with Sidney, it actually would make sense she wouldn’t be involved, the only reason she come to woodsboro was to avenge Dewey, she has an family to protect thus going into hiding, and the movie absolutely works without her ❤️
