liquiddiamonds Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) 3 hours ago, RideOrDie said: it's about Lorde, not Marina. "We talk about making music But I don't know if it's honest" she revealed last year on 360 brat that she and lorde always talk about making music but it never happens and she feels insecure about that. "People say we're alike They say we've got the same hair" no one says charli and marina are alike or have the same hair, everyone knows about the charli x lorde memes. the part about lorde wanting charli to fall over and fail is more about charli's insecurities and projections rather than what lorde would actually want. (Charli XCX just spoke out saying she was initially jealous of Lorde following the success of "Royals.") Also the poem part. Marina's not know as a songwriter type at all (the whole Love album basically bombed in the lyrical camp). Not a poet type. Lorde on the other hand has really emphasized her lyrical work around Solar Power as part of her brand. I don't think Charli has issues with Lorde. She knew it would cause some buzz in the gay internet scene lol I believe it's old news for her and the song is a bop Edited June 6 by liquiddiamonds 1

Is it noonie bao not heard from her in ages it is from RS: An alternative reality, one in which she would be the supporting character, was presented to her when she went to Stockholm to visit her songwriting collaborator Noonie Bao, her first close friend to have a child. "It was crazy seeing her standing in the same clothes she's always worn, but now she has this completely different perspective on life than I do. She's not enforcing that on me; it's just a fact. She's not alive for the same reasons that I am now," reflects Charli. It seemed like Bao understood some mysterious truth, accessible only through motherhood. It made Charli wonder if she'll ever be privy to that secret. Maybe she'll say, "**** it, I don't want to conform to centuries of indoctrination." If she does fold and become a mother, will she be fine with it — or will she crave the freedom she once had? Edited June 6 by sbenci 1

Hex Posted June 6 Posted June 6 This is a really great album. I'm glad because as a long time fans since VV, I despised how bland Crash felt. My initial (unsolicited) thoughts: First, the not-so-great - George's production skills are just.. not great. You can immediately tell which tracks he produced (CC, Apple) by how round (?) they sound due to unnecessary, muddy mid-low end from his kick drums which should have been cut out and lack of skill in making synth's sharp enough in upper frequencies. What ends up happening is there isn't enough space in the mix for the sonic elements to sound impactful texture-wise... it makes the result sound mushy (see Apple for example, and compare the production quality to something like Talk Talk or Rewind). This was my same issue with In The City - the mix was just very rudimentary sounding. Glad he's only been involved on a couple tracks. - Not a bad thing but she definitely released the most digestible cuts as singles (bar Talk Talk) which set my expectations sort of low. I liked them (bar B2B which I'm still trying to get into) and they've since grown on me but I was pleasantly surprised by how much more interesting the rest of the album is. Tbh tho even with her best work her single choices are not what I would have chosen (OOMH for example) The GREAT - Pretty much everything else lol - Production wise, this thing is excellent. So glad daddy Cook is still the main contributor as I mainly listen to Charli for his production. - LOVE how she incorporated El Guincho's signature sound to EIR. Same with Hudson Mohawke's work on Mean Girls (I think he did this one, right?) - My favs are Rewind, Mean Girls, EIR, 360, 365, IMSSS, and SIAK. - I always liked ITAIATT and G,SC so I'm glad to see them here in finished form. I do think though that ITAIATT could have been replaced with Spring Breakers and that it should have been saved for the deluxe/remix album instead. - She mentioned being inspired by Lou Reed's writing and although this is an entirely different world sonically, I can totally see where he inspired her. The candidness and no-need-to-sugarcoat style is his signature. "I wanna buy a gun, I wanna shoot myself" for example is SO him. Overall, this is like a 8.5-9 for me right now. Loveeeee it.
Eglė Posted June 6 Posted June 6 WAIT... So if she signed a two album deal with Atlantic, and she's released Brat, and there's a full on remix album coming out, that means her record deal will be over again?
