those songs you mentioned are about love, sex, and/or girl problems which exactly fit my description about her. probably forgot about optimism & faith which Hero and Make it happen are about.

 

im not a woman so I don’t feel empowered by Taylor’s music. also bare minimum is funny considering she probably has more songwriting credits and live performances than all of your faves combined

Hero (optimism/love), AYNAF (love/friendship), One sweet day (grief/love), AIWCIY (love/desire), MIH (optimism), WYB (faith), ILT (optimism/party), SIO (failed love)

Difficult comparison. Obviously both are two of the greatest songwriters of all time with two very different approaches to writing, so it really just comes down to which style you prefer. 
 

Also, trying to play some “gotcha” game highlighting only their fluffy, pure pop writing is useless—they both have scattered a few Karma and Touch My Body type songs throughout their discographies, but the fact remains that 80% of their work, in regards to songwriting, is heads and shoulders above any of the peers they’ve had at any given time. 
 

Personally, I prefer Taylor and think her best is better than Mariah’s best, but there’s no wrong answer here.

mariah's florid, over-embellished lyrics are not ALL that, but they're better than Taylor Swift's composition notebook milky pen scrawl.

 

FURTHERMORE, Mariah blows out of Taylor out of the water with actual melodic VOCAL ARRANGEMENT, another major component to songwriting beyond just lyricism. Musically/vocally, Taylor's writing is not all that sophisticated. So it's Mariah, no contest.
