With Texas, has Beyonce surpassed Madonna, Cher and Tina in the longevity department?

Madonna never had to thrive off payola to push her career. No offense to Beyonce, but her career isn’t half the size of Madonna’s even with two payola scandals.

now put her latest real releases, her latest albums and singles, not just a meme song that revives for a month.

“Meme song”

Spotify

AIWFCIY - 1,802,121,852

Halo - 1,486,009,951

Dark Horse - 1,359,262,337

Popular - 606,608,703

Imagine trying to downplay AIWFCIY like it’s not about to become the best-charting song of all-time. No other song even comes close globally.

I get this to an extent but the huge difference is that Beyonce is doing it with her NEW material. Mariah’s new stuff is not bringing in numbers nowadays at all and she's mostly relying on her older catalog.  Which is not a bad thing, she has a legendary catalog. But context is important because what Beyonce is accomplishing is different.

But Beyonce is also living in a different world where streams have made the market significantly easier. Tertiary radio plays have been turned into album sales that just didn’t exist - hence Beyonce bombing massively with projects like Everything Is Love and The Gift but rebounding when streaming grew and recovering with Renaissance.

It’s also important to note that Beyoncé and her husband have been caught manipulating streams. And Beyoncé’s label was caught manipulating airplay. That helped with her longevity greatly.

What sets Madonna apart is that she did it by herself. That's what sets Madonna apart.

Madonna didn't need a girl group as a safety net. Madonna didn't need to marry a man to further her career.

Madonna's longevity is kinda overrated, she was really only relevant for like 21 years of her career. Beyonce surpassed her long ago

In CSPC:

Madonna after 21 years

COADF - 13,557,000

Hard Candy - 6,190,000

MDNA - 2,584,000

Rebel Heart - 1,450,000

Madame X - 295,000

Beyonce

Everything Is Love (15 years in) - 1,006,000

The Gift (16 years in) - 1,151,000

Beyonce has done incredibly well so to say Madonna’s numbers are anything less than spectacular is pure delusion.

She's joining their league, the first pop girl in this century to do it tbh. But let it be known that if Texas, Hold 'Em sails to #1 like it's being predicted then Beyoncé will be the first woman to ever have multiple #1 hits on Billboard in her middle-age (40s and up). There was only 5 women before her to begin with pre-Break My Soul. She is easing the path for the younger women after her and that shouldn't be taken lightly.

y'all love casting aspersions on her starting in a girl group like that's something to be shameful of, like she didn't literally grow up in a homegrown group with her childhood friends. Y'all also love handing all her hard work and success to a man that has never even managed her career, been the head of her label, etc. I don't know what all that's about but y'all always sound mad goofy when you try to make it a thing.

Married a man to further her career? :lmao:You people just say anything.

And DC is a safety net? Then why are so few women for girl groups making it solo?
