That's because she has a publicist who dictates what they can and cannot discuss in interviews. Clearly Kelly and Michelle either do not, or haven't asked their publicists to do that. As you've already been told. Anything else?

It would be annoying, but I actually think this interview was pretty innocuous with it. She started by asking Kelly about her new music, Kelly refused to say anymore than she's working on it, and the interviewer quickly snuck in a question about what Kelly thought about Beyoncé going country. That doesn't seem too rude or even left-field, nor is it a question that Kelly would have been asked countless times before. It's literally on topic and it's a hot topic too. It's not like she stopped the interview to ask what Beyoncé's favourite cereal is.

I like Kelly but I think she needs to get better at redirecting interviews. The Beyoncé questions will never go away, because Beyoncé is just a way bigger star. It also doesn't help that Beyoncé doesn't give interviews anymore. So it's unfortunate, but it's better for Kelly to just expect it and deal with it better in the future IMO.
