Katy had six years of non-stop smashing with a huge streak hits. Xtina had one year of smashing in the US (with a local album) and then another successful era in the early 00s before starting her flopping streak. They are not even remotely comparable.

Christina's first solo top 5 single was in 1998.

Christina's last solo top 5 single was in 2002.

Her career basically lasted only three years, and it was merely a blip on the radar.

Katy's first solo top 5 single was in 2008.

Katy's last solo top 5 single was in 2016.

Katy stats speak for themselves no debate there but Christina felt like the bigger celebrity during her peak.

Imagine thinking this. I mean it’s embarrassing.

I feel like if we were making a list of the 20-30 most important popgirls, Christina Aguilera would be closing it. I can't think of anyone who feels smaller. While she was undeniably big and popular at the very beginning of her career she somehow fell into oblivion and feels barely famous now. Katy Perry is a much bigger name, has a much bigger career, more iconic moments and generates more attention.

this was a set up for Xtina. Katy debuted in the streaming era, and by that time Xtina was reduced to a feature girl.  this comparison doesn’t even make sense.

? Her commercial relevance already ended with Stripped.

B2B was already a commercial underperformance like Witness, and she completely bombed with Bionic.

Katy but you really don’t need to downplay and disrespect Xtina and her career to say so. She’s still a very iconic pop girl and gets dogged on way too much on here.

This is so false, the retroactive Xtina erasure is not ok. She was huge from 1999-2006. Easily one of the biggest pop stars with tons of hits, and a huge star all over the media. The conversation was always "Britney and Christina" as the top female pop stars.

????

"Car Wash" in 2004 was a big international hit

Back to Basics sold very well for a double album (twice as expensive) and "Ain't No Other Man", "Hurt" and "Candyman" were hits in various parts of the world

Completely false to say her relevance ended with Stripped. I was there in 2006 watching MTV. She was still a major star.

Katy with ease. Xtina had two big eras, one generally successful one, and then faded into oblivion forever aside from the occasional feature or Oreo commercial.

All things considered Katy had three big albums, one of which being one of the biggest eras of all time

Not to mention, Christina was on Moves Like Jagger, which was a 5-week #1 in 2011 (twelve years into Christina's career). And a Top 5 in Say Something in 2014 (fifteen years into Christina's career). Katy's career went off the rails by the time we got to years 12-15.

In short, Katy had the higher peak, but Christina had the better longevity.

Katy is headlining Rock In Rio this year. When's the last time xtina headlined a festival of that magnitude?

Katy’s last solo Top 5 was Roar, in 2013. CTTR was a collab
