Saintlor Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) Beyonce recently aired a commercial immediately (and by immediately, I mean immediately as in it aired the moment his performance finished) after Usher's halftime show saying "Thought that halftime show just broke the internet? Just wait until you see what's next" and then announce her album. Taylor announced her album during her own speech at the Grammys and was dragged for stealing the spotlight, whereas Beyonce's ad is openly boasting that her announcement is bigger/better. I don't have any problem with Beyonce (though I thought comparing to Usher was of poor taste), I'm just highlighting the double standards here. Edited February 12 by Saintlor 3 2 4 1

Digitalism Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Well no. You are making this thread so it's the same standard
Taylena Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Beyoncé is not a threat to their faves nor the biggest female artist of all time, so they won't come for her. It is what it is. 6 2

Headlock Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Seems like @Saintlor is finally completing a @réveuse transition by making this set up thread 1
byzantium Posted February 12 Posted February 12 She has been facing double standards for 18 years now. 5 5
dawnettakins Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Nope. Stop with the victim mentality. Like fave like stan ig tho. 3 5
Cheers Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Yes, you're right. Bey always uses the Superbowl to announce something it seems.
TaggedGalaxy Posted February 12 Posted February 12 So now it’s victim mentality when blatant OTH hypocrisy is called out 7
DirtyPony87 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Yeah, if Taylor did this, imagine the discourse around it. OTHs would be fed for weeks.

It's been less than an hour. Now be carefull with this. Swifties will try to spin this onto Bey and it will only get Taylor attacked
shimind Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Beyonce is literally a nobody in front of Taylor's success. who tf cares about her anyway. Taylor is the BIGGEST POP CULTURE MOMENT OF LAST 1000 YEARS so she will be the target for every small thing she does. 5 1 5
C-Amber Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I don't like either of them. And yes it was hypocrite and double standard, if Taylor did that, there would be already +10 articles here trashing her. But since it's Beyonce she get a pass for everything.
NEX Posted February 12 Posted February 12 First thing I thought, but of course nobody will have a problem with that album announcement. And I'm sure atrl will somehow find a way to make this about Taylor/Swifties cause why not 1
Strawberry Bubble Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Saying 'Taylor is facing double standards' does not imply that Taylor is a victim; she's still x1000 times richer than all her haters put together. This simply underscores the primary reason why Swifties don't buy into the discourse of haters; it appears fake, absurd, and hypocritical, to say the least. Taylor is not even aware by these 'critics'; she's focused on preparing everything to break every single record. 2

At least miss réveuse kept up the act for a few months before letting the mask slip.
newaespa Posted February 12 Posted February 12 To keep the same energy.. WHAT? Superbowl should be USHER's moment! How dare Beyonce make everything about her, cancel her! Taylor and Beyonce cancelled in a span of 1 week
MatiRod Posted February 12 Posted February 12 It was a little messy, they didn't need to drag Usher like that
PoisonPill Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) The wording of that Beyoncé Verizon ad was really tactless and uncalled for. I can’t imagine she approved that language since she wouldn’t let out a fart without running it through a focus group. Edited February 12 by PoisonPill 1
dirrtydiana Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Apples and oranges. Beyonce's last release was 2 years ago without any visuals Tay released like 3 whole albums since act I Beyonce partnered with a company that paid her $30M to announce this to world while Tay did it in a tacky way in front of industry colleagues Yall just mad atrl didn't put up a banner for swift lol 2 3
