I mean, no shade just tea - she can’t sing, she can’t dance, she has some songwriting skills but very weak artistry with average performing skills at best. I like some of her songs but I will never pay a dime to see her "live", for me it just a plain mediocrity, so idk what those kids and some of 30yo gays see in her to even bother to attend her concerts I think she has spoken to a generation of white girls who also make whining about their ex their entire personality. The gays are just there for the success, as soon as she flops they will jump ship (see Katy Perry). 10 1

Katy lasted all of 5, 6 years max. Taylor has tripled that lifespan and quadrupled Katy’s career accolades. But most of all, Taylor has always had the quality that Katy lacked. Yall seem to forget we’re here for the music, not the success. It’s why Taylor was always a key player in music even when she was “less” successful than Bey, Gaga, and Rih in the early 2010s. 2
Roberto Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Winning 4 times AOTY when she actually deserved it once (Folklore) makes her automatically overrated. Edited February 10 by Roberto 10

Maroonx Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I'd say she's overexposed for sure, but I wouldn't go as far as discrediting her for what she's accomplished though. 1

We aren’t the ones complaining that she’s overexposed and overrated though, YALL are. Yet the exposure and ratings in question are coming from yall perpetuating discussions about her.

Dont group me up with the others I dont talk about her more than the normal PG on ATRL I'm just perplexed that yall are complaining about a Lot of Taylor threads being made, despite constantly boasting that she is the biggest PG ever ofc she would have lots of threads made about her atp

But I do enjoy some of The Beatles music, and I see why they are still important today. I don't think people will think the same in 50 years when they listen to Me!, Karma, Gorgeous, etc. People don't even enjoy Me! or Gorgeous nowadays. They are not even top 50 most streamed songs in her catalogue. Cruel Summer, Blank Space, Love Story etc. are and people will definitely enjoy when they listen these songs just like they do now. 5 hours ago, suneclipse121 said: The overrated title fits Taylor better than it ever did Beyoncé tbh. Take everything away and Beyoncé still has her consistent singing/vocal and performing abilities at base level but for Taylor she has her songwriting which can be extremely inconsistent depending on who she collabs with. Beyonce has 3 truly acclaimed albums out of... 8? Taylor has 5-6 out of 10. That’s how musically consistent she actually is. 4 hours ago, Jay07 said: Yes. Mainly by critics who are terrified of her rabid, terminally online fanbase and keep giving her inflated scores. Did she also scare 12k Grammy voters? Edited February 10 by WildHeart

Bamboo Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Think it means that ASIB success =/= her solo career success Which makes sense and is true to an extent

aesthetic bih Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I'm a Swiftie, but yes she is. As a fan, I like that she is at her peak tho, but all peaks do not last so I'm just gonna enjoy this moment while she's at the top her game 1
Klein Posted February 10 Posted February 10 6 hours ago, Love Again said: I don’t think she is overrated but it does bother me that other female artists do not get the same hype for their albums as she does. She works very hard and releases very frequently (more than 90 % of our faves) but it’s a little disappointing that she’s constantly the talk of the town and the main event while the other girls are left behind. Ariana, Dua, Olivia etc deserve the same kind of hype Excuse me for a serious answer in this dumpster fire of a thread. The reason why nobody gets her level of hype is simply because they don't have her fanbase. Taylor has spent years and years forging that relationship with her fans and expending and cultivating her fanbase again and again. We've reached a point where the sheer number of her fans will dominate the social media discourse as soon as she releases something. And with the importance it has on social media discussions, it then naturally permeates on traditional media. In an era when monoculture is dead, getting that kind of coverage is basically restoring monoculture and that will dominate every news outlet, making the hype much bigger than for other artists. You combine that with the fact she's always delivered good music (despite what people in this thread want to believe), and so it's obvious why the GP at large will be anticipating this new release. It's like the 10th time in Taylor's career that they experienced the hype for her next album, and they've mostly been very happy with the content that was delivered. Naturally, everyone (that isn't negative towards Taylor obviously) is expecting and hyped for the new album. The source of all this, again, comes from the fans tbh. And unless other popstars find a way to dominate social media discussion like Taylor is (and for their music, not just a weird antic), they won't reach these levels of hype. People want to hear a Taylor Swift album. Add to that the fact she is currently having the biggest peak for an artist since the Michael/Madonna days, it's pretty obvious why her album announcement would be received with this level of hype. I'll also had that the opposite negative reaction to her announcing a new album has only made the hype for this one even bigger. Now it's not just the fans, pop music enjoyers and traditional media that are talking about her new album... it's also even her haters, promoting her music even more. Someone said it recently but I don't think OTHs realize how big of an impact they are having on Taylor's career. All the discourse is doing is 1) creating free promo and exposure for Taylor, 2) only being taken seriously by people who already dislike her, 3) leads to fans defending her more and thus creating a stronger parasocial relationship with their fave and 4) converting other people into Taylor supporters because they are just taking Taylor's side after reading all the crazy reaching made by her haters. 3
jomarr Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Her? Not really. She pours so much work into her craft. Some of her work? Definitely. Midnights being one of them. 1
