Chemist Posted April 6 Posted April 6 https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/88416/Vampire-Weekend-Only-God-Was-Above-Us/ 5/5 from Sputnik "They're no longer on the cusp of greatness – they've fully achieved it." 1
bestfiction Posted April 8 Posted April 8 A stellar album. Mary Boone, Classical and Pravda are my trinity so far
Archetype Posted April 10 Posted April 10 When Hope hits you… wow an experience. Truly no skips on this album. Also no shade to Rostam, who is an insanely talented artist in his own right, but the GOD of alternative production Ariel Rechtshaid absolutely came through. This could have easily been produced by Rostam, that's how good it is, but Ariel was able to effortlessly fuse the best elements from all of their past albums into one without ever being part of the band. That's how good Ariel is, give him a Grammy 1
Alex21kw Posted April 11 Posted April 11 AOTY I fear My top 3 changes every day, but somehow The Surfer and Capricorn find their way into my top 3 the most
RadioactiveLights Posted April 21 Posted April 21 This is my AOTY. What an amazing, tight, clean, yet vibrant record.
DiegoMarcoCMM Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Their new album is great!!! I enjoyed the entire album. It was a bit hard to dig on first listen but now I'm addicted. I dont' like "Father of the Brige" at all, I got so disappointed with that album, and the "Only God Was Above Us" is such a relief! Connect, Classical and Hope my trinity
Kh-Loud Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) This album is a masterpiece, holy ****!!! I was never a fan of them, like a few of their songs but this just blew my mind away. I'll have to give it more listens to fully appreciate it but based on the first listen, it was such sonic experience that I'll never forget!! Edited April 30 by Kh-Loud
makeawish Posted May 14 Posted May 14 have enjoyed being a reflexive hater for many years but capricorn is such a good song that i'm having to listen to this now, furious that i'm having to reconsider my opinion of them but i guess i can still get mad at a-punk and oxford comma
