Don't cry about people speculating about your sexuality if you take these kind of pics!

That they are so defensive just reeks of homophobia.

It’s time to destroy Taylor Swift. ENOUGH of this mediocrity being excused. :thing:

Speculating someones sexuality is wrong and it should be called out :giraffe:

Doesn't seem to matter when it comes to Shawn Mendes

The article is pathetic and invasive, but that’s what happens when you  strategically cultivate, over the course of almost two decades, a parasocial relationship with your fans.  You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

This is the dumbest **** I've ever read here. You must not have contact with the outside world.

Glad Taylors people said something. I can’t imagine how annoying it is for Taylor.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a queer person or absorbing art and seeing it through a queer lens. However, insisting that someone is a sexuality that they are not when they have explicitly stated so is invasive and wrong. The whole NYT article was very weird and a deeply weird choice to publish it.

Nothing wrong with experiencing art through your own personal gay lens. Gay men can enjoy music made by heterosexual women for that reason. What's actually wrong is projecting those subjective personal interpretation onto the artist, calling them a closeted liar, denying them any agency over their own indentity and personhood under the guise of it's all some sort of "performance art". It's genuinely disturbing that so many queer people seem to adopt/condone this bs, it's even more disturbing (well, not really) that the NYT decided to platform a delusional conspiracy theorist...:dies:

Glad her team finally addressed this.

Taylor has a right to be weirded out by the discussion as a straight person I guess

her team is just upset bc this hurts her marketability to the conservatives which is a part of the business plan and promised growth in the mega corporation that her career has become lol

Same thing with those Deux Moi stories they were angry about. Of course her fans have taken it too far! She needs to set some real boundaries instead of just sending Tree Paine to CNN with an anonymous comment.

I just don’t understand the point of the fans that want her to be gay so bad. Why would you stan someone who purposely hides their gay relationships for business reasons but sings about so many details about her straight ones when she could use her platform to be a LGBT+ voice? Seems like something someone greedy and selfish would do.

why does she never confront her fans directly (who created this fantasy in the first place)? she’s always using indirect mediums

That's a good question, why not spend that energy stanning actual queer artists? But I've come to learn that these people don't even qualify as "fans" they're more infatuated with this fictional character they imagine her as and hyperfixate on it. Like QAnon type ****.

Those who get upset when someone doesn’t use their pronouns correctly are now upset when someone calls themselves straight.

She has already said that she is straight numerous times.

Her “fans” are the ones with the lack of respect.

She has directly stated she's not part of the LGBTQ community and just an ally in an interview. The prologue of 1989 TV called out the weird sexualisation of her female frendships. They wouldn't stop though because they're delusional consiracy theorists. :dies: Going to CNN and having a well-respected senior editor publish this counters the fact that the freaking New York Times decided it was somehow appropriate to run this "opinion" piece.

It’s weird when people do it unironically and it’s beyond weird when one of the biggest papers in the world run an article about it. It’s really a tabloid
