I'm Puerto Rican. This isn't racist but it is annoying since these wealthy americans move to other places in the world and have a sense of entitlement just because they have deep pockets. They do this all over the world even european countries. I remember a guy from tiktok guy (same annoying personality as Jake Paul) who moved to Sardinia and said they were unkempt and annoying while boasting about his wealth and "clean" background.

Not surprising. These disgusting americans who move to other countries and expect superior treatment need to have their visas removed.

There's plenty of those around Portugal who moved for tax benefits and then **** all over the locals demanding to have preferencial treatment. Disgustig pricks

Don’t Portugal do that to the natives in Brazil, Mozambique, Angola, India, Timor, Macau, etc?

Hahahah

Disgusting Portuguese people that move to other countries like the USA en masse, with their own problems, are mad at Americans for moving and taking advantage of what their own incompetent government allowed to happen

How exactly are they specifically shitting all over the locals?

Girl just go on tik tok and see all those 'digital nomads' who moved to Lisbon and are trashing the city, gentrifying it to **** and moaning about the locals and the culture. Then they complain that no-one likes their disgusting asses.

Piss off man

We once colonised those countries, yes. Now we have huge presence from those communities in the country, yes. What do they have to do with disgusting white middle class Americans trashing Lisbon and Porto, gentrifying the cities by force, raising the costs of living so that those communities cant live there anymore in favour of those white Americans, you idiot?

So you agree. History comes back to bite. The colonizers are getting a taste of their crappy medicine.

Come back to bite? LOL no-one is complaining about migration or people from colonised countries being in Portugal you moron. You really think America isn't a coloniser country with millions of Americans based around the world colonising and using soft-power to steal resources?

You think Americans gentrifying Lisbon are a pay-back for the colonised communities? The very communities from colonised countries are ALSO being bastardised, pushed out of their homes and having their rights removed precisely because of those Americans in the city, you utter idiot.

You have no clue what you are talking about and it shows. Go play your violine by and for yourself, which is what you are doing

Where do i begin

1. Do you know how many Portuguese expats in the US and other countries work illegally, trash the locals, and also complain and refuse to integrate? Are you naive enough to think Portuguese people don’t do this? Or do you believe being an ******* is an American thing?

2. There are less than 10,000 Americans in Portugal. You think they’re the reason for the shitty government’s incompetence? The cost of living crisis is happening everywhere. A couple thousand Americans are not the cause of your problems, as much as it helps your anger. Your government not only allows this to happen, they encourage it.. spending money to attract digital nomads and foreign investors, especially on social media. Simple minds find simple scapegoats. But a Portuguese person blaming a group of immigrants for their problems.. what else is new 🥱

Typical disgusting American bullshit, telling us how to run our country whilst stealing from us.

Never said the Gov wasnt doing that, but it is mainly the American elits, tourists and digital nomads taking advantage and trashing the place, raising the rent and living costs, don't pay taxes locally and moaning about it all around. There's a specific type of 'expat' from America that is well beyond any other migrant in the country, believe me. ******* nasty shite.

PLUS, do you really want to talk about the influence of the American elites and government in Portugal, and how that has historically and contemporarily affected the country? Because Portuguese communities of migrants in America have no political power. The same cannot be said the other way around. There's literally areas of Portugal (i.e. Quinta do Lago in Algarve or parts of Cascais in lisbon) that are run by whealthy Americans and where Portuguese people or other migrants are not welcome, and they are politically protected by American influence in the country.

Portugal advertises everywhere for tourism BECAUSE OF THE CRASH THAT THE AMERICANS STARTED whcih empoverished the country to the point of relying on foreign investment. And of course, the American's came in to steal and profit from that. Funny how that happens, hey?...

And don't event get me started on the power moves from the USA in the country's own politicial structures. The USA has military bases in Portugal, has played strategic power-influences in elections for generations (not least the 1975 November coup, or its partnership with the fascist dictator) and the recent lithium-stealing scandal has brought down the Government.

You blame our Government, and they are rightly also to blame for capitulating to American interests, but the amount of power America has and forces on the country is beyond disgusting. You should all just ******* leave.

He’s trash, but I’ve been to Puerto Rico and the driving is notoriously bad. Our driver told us that citations are not enforced so people commonly hit each other and keep going. We saw it happen three times on one drive. :deadbanana:

Wah wah wah. Another colonizer crying about gentrification.

Also I looked up the numbers. There’s only 7,000 Americans in Portugal. A country with a population of 10 million people.

You have got to be kidding me :ahh: . This is not the fault of Americans. It’s the fault of your own shithole country.

Typical brain dead and xenophobic response, calling others 'shithole country' when it is American power and influence, tourists and middle classes that are liyterally ******* up the country after we got empoverished because of an American-made 'economic crisis' in the first place.

And we're the contemporary colonisers? You're not only stupid, have no knowlege of socio-politics of what you talking about, but you're also pretty ******* vile.

But don't worry, an uprising will happen one day. And you'll all learn either way.

Like I said, the american digital nomads, that you are so angry at and who you originally complained about, are not the problem, and are no different than Portuguese expats in foreign countries. Now you want to bring up “political power” :lmao: Please. Portugals influence from foreign governments is another topic, unrelated to the average expat and immigrant renting flats in Lisbon.

Your government handed out citizenship like hot cakes for rich investors. The “elites” you speak of, relating to the og topic of expats and the housing crisis, are also coming from Brazil and China. Once your dream of expelling all Americans happens, which will you choose next? Or are you too afraid to say that out loud? Not to mention the thousands of others from the EU capitalizing on the airbnb rentals. It’s funny, because the average Brazilians, Angolans and Cape Verdeans immigrants that don’t have this “power” of which you speak, also face anti-immigrant discrimination. Like I said, a Portuguese person blaming a specific group of immigrants for their problems.. what’s new!

You’re so dumb lol. Literally the colonized minorities from the past that are living in Portugal are the ones suffering the most with the mass migration of these ‘digital nomads’ as they are the ones with lower incomes. It’s just another case of rich whites taking poor, colored people spaces.

Typical American comparing their pretend struggles with the genuine ones that migrant from communities of the Global South face. As if Americans on digital nomad tax-evasion schemes are 'oppressed' and not part of the elites gentrifying and stealing our homes and resources.

And yes, political power is literally connected with how 'certain migrants' are treated better than others, it is literally how world powers operate, specially the Americans. Or do you really think that the American tourists that arrive on those massive ships, or the Americans on tax-evasion schemes (both the digital nomads and the filthy rich occupying parts of the country) are facing the struggles that working class communities from Brazil, Angola and Cape Verde (to mention just the ones you had the ******* gal to compare yourself to) face?

AGAIN, American (and British tbf!) gentrifiers and middle-classes occupying land and stealing resources across in the European south is a direct reason as to why so many genuine migrants looking for a better life are facing dispossession and destitution.

I welcome migrants of all kinds, apart from the middle-class and wealthy ones stealing land and the resources .

THIS!!!

I'm so ******* sick of white USA/UK 'nomads' claiming to be oppressed whilst claiming tax evasion schemes, land-grabbing and enfocing their own shitness on us. Worst people in the ******* world
