Raptus
No, her deranged fanbase is still smaller than GP (which Adele had a hold over in 2015)
NEX
With current tactics I can see TS11 doing 2m+. For her to beat 25 she'd need to debut truly desperate tactics like several more variants with each variant carrying a unique new song not available anywhere else. A vinyl with a unique song. A CD version with a unique song. A digital download with a unique song. A tracklist of 20+. A few hundred thousand signed copies. And then some. She could reach that number, but at a cost of severing her relationship with fans. I don't think she would risk that just for some odd record. Sweeftie13
The only strategy that could get her 2M sales as well is if she makes more than 4 variants and for a variant purchased with a code you will be able to purchase another physical pair with 50% discount or a digital copy at half price. At that point people would get the first copy and then buy the second at half price. She could also release a deluxe in the first week (a kind of 3AM edition) but with physical sales of CDs, Cassettes and Vinyl. Another additional move would be to release a video a day for a song for every day of the first week + upload a version of the album containing the acoustic versions + SNL performance + good morning america performance + live on Fortinite + spam in playlists Spotify. Adding all this up MAYBE TS11 would be 2.7/2.8M First week units, 600-700K away to beat Adele's record, so it's impossible

KingWitch
Yeah not happening. Unless she took a long ass break and released mutilple versions (each with a different bonus track or something) then it ain't happening

Ms. Togekiss
Not a chance in hell. She’ll be lucky to match 1989 TV’s numbers, let alone do more than 2M
BrandNewBrandon
5 hours ago, Asscatchem said: the hype after the Eras Tour is unprecedented and monumental. If it was indeed unprecedented it would have no trouble beating Adele's numbers. So therefore it cannot be unprecedented. The hype post-21 was waaaay bigger which is why it not only sold 3 million albums but people forget the lead single went #1 in more countries than Taylor has ever seen for any song of hers and it broke all-time digital sales records as well as the biggest first week on radio in music history. Taylor doesn't have that appeal. Edited January 3 by BrandNewBrandon
Mr. Duff
I don't think so. Even 2M is a maybe. Let's not set Taylor up. She's doing WONDERFULLY AMAZING and another 1.5M+ opening is already a massive feat. Adele's 3.3M+ will be untouchable.

Asscatchem
4 hours ago, Kasix said: That’s completely different though. Japan and Korea’s culture are still into buying physicals that’s why they can do it there but nowhere else. 1989tv’s first week worldwide is actually 3.5M units which is actually insane, but thats meaningless since it’s worldwide. can't she just copy the kpop way and include random photocards in each variant with some rare ones and have fans scrambling to collect them all multiple kpop groups have cleared 3M+ first week domestically with this strategy
superben
Remember that time when people wondered whether Taylor can ever do a 1m+ first week again, and now that just seems like a bare minimum for her
UnusualBoy
Not a chance, she'd have to do more than 2.5 million in sales which is not possible in this climate and then add 800k from streaming. The numbers are not reachable. I see her getting close to 2 million tho.

So even if she was allowed to do this, she’d never sell that much more like the K-pop groups could. And that’s if she’s allowed to do it. I’m pretty. Sure billboard has some stupid rule in place that would disallow it anyway.
OrgVisual
2 hours ago, dirrtydiana said: Then she should test her power and not put it on streaming 🤷♀️ That's not how it works in 2023. The physical sales market is carried by hardcore fans who purchase CDs/vinyls as merch/souvenirs. No one will buy a CD just to listen to the music (not that many people still have CD players anyways ) Also, fans who already purchased multiple copies will still stream the album 24/7 which results in higher SPS than just sales alone
