this is so untrue lol she went all out for witness and only started losing it when the album and the singles after chained were huge flops

I didn’t say that she didn’t promote. But she was going through that phase where she didn’t want to be Katy Perry anymore and wanted to do more of her own thing and less of what the GP wanted from her. Madonna, on the other hand, was focused on exploring her craft but still making palatable, contemporary hits.

This thread reminds me of a comment I saw here a few years ago where a Katycat had claimed that Capitol was extremely surprised at the Witness floppage because they expected her to become their Madonna

There may be truth to that, I remember threads during the Smile era about Capitol surveying people on why they stopped listening to Katy
