It’s only low because you, yourself, are judging her appearance, clearly.

It was to point out that she’s evidently not the target audience of a Nicki Minaj album. This is this one lady’s opinion & nothing more. It doesn’t hold any significant weight, I’d argue, less weight in fact, than the opinion of someone like Zach Campbell who another member here just used as a racially charged shade attempt.

Considering the demographic she falls under is relevant to highlight, whether you like it or not, it shatters the false sense that these “reviewers” are some type of cultural curators or have any credibility over particular genres - when they’re nothing but consumers & at times, as in this instance, cultural detractors. A job as an “editor” doesn’t give you a free pass from appropriate criticism.

That’s not even mentioning the fact that these publications run on clicks… their job is to instigate.

barbz can be as mad as they want but at the end of the day those criticisms are extremely valid

It always makes me laugh when barbz act like Nicki's music is this unaccessible high art that only hip hop heads would get. If anything her music is the some of most easily accessible rap music to non rap fans given its pop leaning tendencies and most of the songs having sung portions.

Anyway this review spilled. At least Queen had some high highs like Barbie Dreams, LLC, Chun-Li, Good Form, Rich Sex, or even the scrapped Barbie Tingz. Nothing on this album comes close to those songs and it sounds very rushed and half finished

Came to say exactly this.

I’ve been a huge Nicki fan since PF and this album is a total dud, with no highlights.

It is totally uninspired.

Scarlet's score is all politics because nothing on that album is objectively as terrible as Nicki's sampling of Heart of Glass  :doc:

I did have a feeling that Nicki played it safe this time around. I mean, the tracks sound pretty but they are not special. What she done for this album, she already did in her previous album. People expected something new. I think that's what I get from this Bitchpork review.

"I've said before I don't understand critics but here's why: would you critic a dance show if you were not yourself a dancer? Would you critic an English paper if you did not speak English? Or a French paper if you don't speak French? Don't let these things bother you, because the concepts of ARTPOP I spent a lot of time and research a love on. By everybody will understand it, it operates in a place of love that sees the world as unified. It is simply a pleasurable experience for you to access if you choose. I don't believe that we are divided as people. If you criticize others you criticize yourself. If you compliment others you compliment yourself. We are one universe. We belong together. I love you monster these songs mean something important to me too."

Name a RAP song better than Red Ruby on Roman Reloaded or Queen

Roman Holiday

Come On A Cone

I Am Your Leader

Beez In The Trap

HOV Lane

Roman Reloaded

The problem with Roman Reloaded is the mediocre pop songs in the second half that overstuff the album. The RAP tracks are all excellent, innovative, creative and funny in a way she hasn't been since. I like Ruby, but you can't say the same about almost any of the songs on PF2.

No shade but at some point you’re listening to Pink Friday 2 and think “Why the **** am I here?”

6.5 is way too high. It’s one of the worst albums I’ve heard this decade.

Yes there are a few skips on RR but a most of the pop songs aren't trying to be high brow, they're just fun and unashamedly camp.  PF2 sounds like Queen 2.0 without the good bits.

Are the Barbs not bored of taking these constant L’s or do they have a humiliation k*nk? :toofunny2:

While I enjoy a good Nicki drag, Pitchfork means nothing LOL

Dragging over the same score they gave Pink Friday and Taylor’s reputation.

Invasion of Privacy received above an 8.5, right?

You're talking about her one album that couldn't even garner her a proper fanbase nor stand the test of even a short period of time?

It was the top female rap album of the 2010s, according to the Billboard 200 decade-end chart. It broke the record for longest-charting album by a female rapper on the Billboard 200, surpassing The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

You all say ANYTHING and be so WRONG. The fact that Cardi didn't even milk the era like she could have. :rip:

Sis what? Nicki is renowned because of her ability and talent to bridge the gap between pop and hip-hop worlds. It's quite literally meant to be easily accessible, thats the genius, we all know this...wtf are you talking about?

This is getting sad. The album is tanking bad. Sucks because I enjoy it so much.

Ummmm....Again. Her ONE album that came out many years ago that failed to garner her any kind of fanbase or iconic fan fair. Sis, she has one album out and a flop single from this year and so was her last 4. Get over it :eddie: shes not at the same table as literally anyone, she has no material :deadbanana2:This is a thread for someone on their fifth album that includes recent #1 solo single.

They didn’t lie a bit. Maybe on the score, which should be smaller.

Failed to garner her any fan base? How can you say that when she is the FEMALE rapper with the most #1 singles? Clearly the GP and HER fans bought/streamed those songs and took her to the TOP of the charts. I agree, Cardi NEEDS to release another album, her waiting so damn long is weird BUT she clearly had the GP and her fans taking her to the top with THAT ONE album (and droplets) and doing things that Nicki couldn't do with her FOUR previous albums at all. Let's not talk about flop singles when Nicki had a song stay on the charts for three weeks (from PF2) this year, lol.

You all kill me trying to ALWAYS discredit Cardi, I am not the biggest Nicki fan but at least I give her credit when it's due.

The score is absolutely too high. Her tracks sound B-class, and the samples are beyond lazy. I'm such a huge fan and it's very sad to see how soon we've came from absolute SLAYAGE with literally every album/mixtape to this. Hope she bounces back, and delivers something major before she retires.
