Starshine Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 It's like Homecoming meets Renaissance, I very much enjoy the second half. I'm kind of over the first half, I'm gonna treat it as two songs. A ***Flawless teas. 1

Namie-Knowles Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 This song truly is for the kin folk. A safe space, truly. A reprieve from their dominance over us. 2
ICLDXU4HS Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 This song is incredible. I’m truly sorry to everyone that doesn’t get it. 1
ParisxHilton Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 This should have been featuring Taylor Swift
Jon Snow Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 As the greatest songwriter of our time has said: "if everyone likes it, maybe it's not that good" While some of us like it very much, not everyone else will, and that's okay 1
Material Girl Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 this would sound good at an event but it's not something i'd listen to when im just chilling
Dr. Alexander Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) 6 hours ago, swissman said: Actually, my analogy makes perfect sense and you've just outlined another reason why it does. When Lena was at her heyday, Jazz was the form pop music took. To be a popstar in the 1940s and 1950s meant you likely were performing jazz. In the mid-1950s rock came about and that became a dominant form of pop music. By the 1970s when Diana came along, Jazz was not the dominant style of the day, which skewed toward singer-songwriter stylings, newer forms of rock, and later disco. Pop changes with the times. It's unfair to credit Diana's jazz soundtrack as a reason why she's the same as Lena Horne, yet deny Beyoncé of a myriad of pop hits situating her in the realm of pop. A song like Irreplaceable is not hip-hop at all, and was Billboard Hot 100's Year-End #1 song of 2007. She has an established catalogue of "pure pop" if we want to call it that and it certainly links her to the style and genre we think Diana embodies, just as Diana may have links to the style of Lena Horne. Furthermore, if Lady Sings the Blues (Diana playing Billie Holiday) and Mahogany (Diana playing a model) count for Diana Ross' credits to "jazz" and "elegance", why do Dreamgirls (Beyoncé playing "Diana") and The Pink Panther (Beyoncé playing a popstar) not count for Beyoncé's credit to "pop" and "elegance"? Beyoncé is very much alike to Diana Ross in almost every way. From girl group to solo pop stardom to being a leading lady to being a leading figure helping to take the genres of the day mainstream (disco and hip-hop respectively), to both their eternal elegance to the way they can project it through all genres performed. The only difference is the styles and trends of their eras. There is a reason Ms. Ross appeared at the RWT to sing Happy Birthday to Beyoncé. And to your point about Beyoncé not having glamour in the 2010s? Because she made hip-hop tracks? lol. okay whatever you say. Which one sounds more legit: Beyoncé is a glamorous popstar Beyoncé is a unglamourous hip-hop artist Come on. It does count but Diana was consistent throughout her entire career which makes her glamour. Beyonce did too much dipping into rap and “ratchetry” which makes her disqualified. In fact, it is what she’s known for most now because the entire last decade of her catalog was dominated by just that. Beyonce is not glamour and she will never be seen by the overall public as it. She’s seen as a blonde girl who can sing and can shake her ass. Nothing more and nothing less. Furthermore, Hollywood respected Diana. The Academy can see right through Beyonce and her shtick and refuses to give her anything - not as if she deserves anything anyway But, I suppose Beyonce can keep playing dress up to try to appear as glamorous, but as of lately, she continues to miss the mark Edited December 2, 2023 by Dr. Alexander 1
Xtripped Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I was expecting something like Renna but this sounds so different. Such a bop.

This girl had the nerve to get up in front of everyone and say to an actual legend, “thank you for your beauty” as if that makes any sense. Do you really want to talk about stupidity babygirl? 1 10

RunUpDoneUp Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 This was...horrible. After Renaissance I may have to wash my hands of Beyoncé musically.
