What are you even talking about? :rip:

Like the first several pages are talking about her going experimental but this is a pretty by the books Bey song at this point?

Part 1 is awful but part 2 is serviceable. Still failing to see anything special in the music of this era unfortunately.

She put crack in this.

The gospel vocals in the end. Her musicality is actually insane.

Everyone got UP when this started playing during the credits!

I personally think it caps off the movie perfectly! It’s a celebratory anthem

You’ve got to be kidding? Just because Beyoncé has been experimental doesn’t mean her further disregard of song structure, trends, how palatable her music will be for radio/playlists etc isn’t just that; experimental.

This song is abrasive af and doesn’t sound like anything anyone remotely mainstream is putting out rn. It’s a fun victory lap that melds and pushes sounds Beyoncé has dabbled in before to the extreme.

Just because Beyoncé has put her personality all over this track doesn’t mean she’s playing it safe. She has pushed boundaries/been experimental since her DC days and if this is anything to go by she will continue to do so.

As expected :bibliahh:

The first half is giving scrub the ground. I wouldn’t expect some of you to get this. It’s a bop and the HBCU majorette teams are going to run it up.

Y'all are crazy, this was instant for me, especially the last half

Agreed!

And I'm actually someone who usually requires more listens to like/get stuff, even by Beyoncé, but this was IMMEDIATE.

The switches, twists and turns she takes, the way she can swap genre but still be situated firmly in the same song. It's amazing and immaculate and all those that don't "get it" must surely just be behind Beyoncé's mindset because she's clearly uninterested in respecting pop formula anymore, in almost any way.

And how does it feel like an entire song has happened before we even get to the 2 min mark, so that the rest is an even bigger bonus? I had to check the time and saw it was only 4:22... I thought it was going to be over 6:00 based on how it felt.

It's definitely a 10/10.

And if I'M THAT GIRL is the intro into this act, MY HOUSE feels like the inverse kind of song...similarly scattered and rather experimental, but still either setting or closing the scene perfectly.

Real ones get the first half

I actually love the first half as a stand alone song. It’s fire! Would love this to be split into 3 songs tbh :suburban:

Sure it doesn’t like a top 10 pop radio song but that doesn’t then make it experimental by default

Also, the people saying this is noise are lowkey annoying me with that microaggression, anytime you hear chants and or drums (a la African sounds) in your head, you use the word "noise" bih, we know what you mean. That NOISE is very common in southern HBCU culture and you know where else? At most fraternities and sports communities, meaning, you've heard them since we know you chase any balding dude with visible muscle and ill fitting khakis. Uglasses, get on my nerves.
