I may be wrong but there's NO way this was apparently known for MONTHS and there wasn't even a concrete rumour about it. It's really looking like Spyglass is creating a narrative for damage control to save what's left of their image.

It's SO sad to see the Scream franchise die like this but I stand with Melissa and Jenna. Spyglass ****** everything for themselves, there's no way this movie isn't bombing. They should just give up and sell the rights to another studio.

Well tbh it’s always been questionable

if she would be coming back due to her schedule… The Wrap did “confirm” she’d be coming back a month ago but I think they were the only ones claiming that? I don’t remember.

Comments like this are really missing the point.

 

Yes, Ghostface is front and center of the Scream franchise, but the rest of the cast matters too - especially if you want to build a core fanbase (which is exactly what they were doing when they established The Core Four in the last movie). What's really flying over your head is the bad PR that came from this. Who's gonna want to go watch a movie that got rid of the main characters for speaking up against genocide?
