Focusing on Sidney would make no sense story wise with the way S6 ended. Especially with all the hints about their mother and the rumors about her returning for 7. If they wanted Melissa out of the movie so badly over this then they could have just made her the opening kill and had Gale/Jenna/the twins face off and then have a Sidney cameo somewhere if they needed it that badly. Pulling her out is like pulling Neve out before Scream 3. They just killed the franchise over modern day McCarthyism.

Wouldn't be a good look for Neve, in fact, people are calling for Jenna Ortega to drop out. She is their main money maker and she doesn't really need them, they need her. 

 

Most of Scream audience are all younger and progressive demographic, they simply shot themselves in the foot and tarnished whole franchise. Unless they do damage control and quietly bring Melissa back, Scream 7 is gonna bomb so hard  that is, if they can make one without the main cast who ste being called to drop from the project

the story not making sense is hardly the problem as both previous movies were extremely poor in terms of screenplay imo, I think 6 could've served as the final chapter to the Carpenters if they wanted as well however the problem will obviously be the public backlash since the fanbase was already expecting the same characters to continue

wasn't a good look for them not to pay Neve and people didn't care.

actually this is kinda giving a bit of karma (for the studio/franchise) but Melissa deserves better

I’m a HUGE Scream but I won’t go see 7. 
 

First of all, it’s gross to fire someone for.. *checks notes* condemning literal genocide.

 

Secondly, she’s the main character. The whole focus of the last movie was her inclusion on the Core Four.. they can’t explain her disappearance.

 

Thirdly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jenna or Jasmin drop out. Jenna’s busy anyway and Jasmin is close to the girls.

 

Fourth, the only thing they could do is bring Neve back, but I don’t exactly think she’s fond of the studio at this point. It’s bad PR for Neve to replace someone who was fired for denouncing genocide.

people need to work and earn money though. I like Neve but its not like she has much of a career outside the franchise anyway. but i doubt shell be back

I’m not saying Neve is a bad person if she steps up. I’m just saying we all know the internet will tear her apart if she does.

 

I love Sidney Prescott but I hope she doesn’t come back now.

 

Also the **** I didn’t care about her Scream 6 situation. I was pissed when they refused to pay a legend.
