Mr. Peanutbutter Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Finally listened to the whole album for the first time and forgive me lord for I have synthed I really enjoyed it. I'm not very familiar with her music but it really sparked my interest to listen to her other albums. The production is incredible and the fact she produced almost the whole thing by herself is very impressive. My faves are Off With Her Tatas, Black Eye, Galina, Title Track and Saddest Smile. 2
Blue Jeans Posted February 26 Posted February 26 It’s early but a serious contender for AOTY Anyone going to her NYC show? She is amazing live. Talent!

Maroon legacy Posted February 26 Posted February 26 21 hours ago, Edit0rz said: “John and Jonathan” draws inspiration from the real-life love story of John Monaco and Jonathan Borge, both prominent figures in their respective fields. Allie X was deeply moved by their connection, witnessed during one of her shows in New York in 2018. Jonathan Borge, currently serving as the Deputy Editor at InStyle.com, a renowned beauty magazine, has an impressive editorial background. Prior to his current role, he held positions at StyleCaster, Elite Daily, OprahDaily.com, and Marie Claire. John Monaco, Jonathan’s partner, is a stylist and designer celebrated for founding Jem New York, an inclusive accessories brand based in New York City. John began his career at Modern Luxury, curating fashion editorials and orchestrating covers featuring notable figures like Julianne Moore, Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Upon the release of the single, John shared a storytime on GagaDaily. Conversely, Jonathan penned an insightful article about Allie X’s single “John and Jonathan” and conducted an interview with Allie X. “I was at a fan meet-and-greet in New York in 2018, and two fans came up and were like, ‘Hi, I’m John, and this is my boyfriend, Jonathan. We love your music!’ And I was like, ‘Wait—your names are John and Jonathan? Okay, I gotta write a song called “John and Jonathan”!’ I was on a walk in [the Toronto suburb of] Oakville near my parents’ house with my boyfriend, and I remember being on a pier and it just came to me: ‘John and Jonathan/Are on the town.’ I got so excited and went back home and just started recording right away. I’ve written so many of my most successful songs in Oakville at my parents' dining room table.” OMg thanks

John Slayne Posted February 26 Posted February 26 i might be the only person thinking this, but i did not enjoy cape god all that much. i don't think it's very pop either, girl with no face has more instantly catchy pop songs imo 3

This made me revisit her discog in order and you can feel her maturity and all her references culminate in a very "tasteful" way on this album - Galina SOTY. other faves: Hardware Software; Saddest smile; Truly dreams; Black Eye; You slept on me; Weird world. such a good listen <3 2
Kern Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Cape God is a very interesting concept album. I’d say it’s alt-pop. Maybe something that Marina could do (sonically) if she used her brain. I think it’s relatable album for people that grew up in dead ass small towns. And this album just bops. It’s her best work because it’s so accessible without sacrificing her style 1
Daddy Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Yeah, this is for sure her best album. Collxtion 1 and this >>> the rest idc. 1

It’s a good pop album but it didn’t feel very ‘Allie X’, if that makes sense. 1

It’s her best work because it’s so accessible without sacrificing her style I mean cape god is accessible sonically. lyrically it's not for everyone at all. I do relate to it, mainly June gloom though I kept myself inside because I was bullied for being gay. anyways she's doing whatever I want her to do. incredible.

Tyrion_LMG Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I have just discovered her and this album is great but I have also listened to Cape God and I enjoyed it more.
