skankle Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Warner underestimated the number of brown envelopes to Spotify it would take to save Hasbeeni. No worries, I'm sure they'll correct their mistake soon enough! 1

AvadaKedavra Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) i told you all in the official thread of the single and i was downvoted The song is a little weird; the hook is strange and feels a bit too repetitive. Tame Impala is an amazing artist himself but not the best pop producer. "Perfect Illusion" produced by him was bad, the video of the song interesting but feels too low budget. Danny Harle is great, but his productions are too experimental for single material; they're better as album tracks. Dua should be working on something more European, like Housey-Bubblegum-Eurodance or R&B-Dancehall. If she wanted to move away from disco, that was the direction to go — something more Nelly Furtado-like or very European and funky. I seriously don't get why she went psychedelic. Where's the appeal in that? I don't know if that's a good concept; I'm confused. Not a big fan of the kaleidoscope one too When i think of psychedelic i think of Dead Petz by Miley Cyrus and i get worried. She's Dua. We stan her because she gives us dance bops, similar to Rihanna or Katy (but edgier). Still, I have hope in the album. Let's wait. we are judging too fast. One of the reasons why she got so big in the Future Nostalgia era is that she had the best direction with people stuart price. For artists, it's always hard to match the power-frenzy of the sophomore; so, I don't blame her "Don't Start Now" was just too good. That song has such a beautiful and interesting structure — violins, cowbells — such a perfect comeback track . It's not easy to match something that good. At the same time, it's very important for Dua to experiment and move in new directions. This song is a good experiment; it mixes disco with strange electronica. I will give her a Thumbs-Up for trying to evolve and not staying in the same. Artists repeating themselves are so boring Is great how she's back with new beautiful hair and with touches of that disco sound but different. Her dancing in the vid is amazing too Edited November 12, 2023 by AvadaKedavra 1
BryceG Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Dua should have come back with something edgier. Perhaps something like this?

Magdalene Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 eh worst comes to worst future nostalgia was her my everything and this song is her focus, cvnty video that is appreciated but the song is too reminiscent of past hits to stick around on the charts 1
jjmed59 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) and this is why she didnt expand her sound. her and her team are smart. not many really know who dua the celebrity is. the best she could do is become the queen of retro/throwback pop. maybe next era she can experiment a little more but rn shes just too faceless for that. also its great that her hits grow over time and in some cases outperform high debuts in the long run; however that has zero to do with her star power and everything to do w her releasing catchy radio music that her team does its job of promoting and pushing. i hope to see that change w future eras. Gayoncé Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 The one peep pony's attempt at having a career in music is completely dependant on Spotify ads and playlisting, as well as radio payola. It takes time for those to kick in, so it is not surprising that the song is bombing. 1 1
ParisxHilton Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 You guys are silly. Just wait until the payola hits

What does Dua lack to never score a smash right out of the gate They're different. Katy was a big celebrity back then, the GP loved her and checked for her new music. Dua Lipa on the other hand just relies on radio and playlisting, she's not a big pop star 4
