Her music isn't really the type of music that makes you build a strong fanbase either. She's not the first, won't be the last artist to have this kind of fanbase. Still, saying that she has no fanbase when she's just had her biggest debut yet doesn't really make sense. Her biggest debut, sure, but it’s not like it’s some kind of out of reach debut. Numbers aren’t awful, but they aren’t super good either.
Squall Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Not the random thumbs down because I say it’s almost summer in some countries

Warner is probably seeing one of the last opportunity of building a real career for a popstar and they are taking it. Maybe they spending a lot of money on exposure, but it's 100% worth it for them in the end.
babyboy1 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 its Christmas freeze season so it will rise after December. Right now people are busy streaming brenda's xmas song and Cher's new xmas album. 1
HASHTAGPOW Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Well atleast ODHs are concerned. Meanwhile, Dua's fans..
masochizm Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 people like the thread maker on ATRL lack any brain cells… lets just ignore any future threads like these and any explanation because they’re just attention seeking

Babar2009 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Her voice is mid , so is this song , but she will cheat the charts as usual 2 2

I don’t think this applies to Olivia when she doesn’t get that more promo and still manages to sell 300k first week
TicketOneWay Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I was very underwhelmed by the song, the song should be recognized as the anthem of midness, I really hated it actually. And I'm not too familiar with Dua but it's giving the payola has ran out 1

Olivia is anything but organic and thats the gag here. anyway, just pointing out that there are major hypocrisies here when certain fans talk about others “getting brave” Edited November 12, 2023 by masochizm 1

americanlife Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 It’s a good song but it’s the same-old after Future Nostalgia which she milked for so long. This disco sound is done, she should’ve came back with a new sound. 2
jqnetto Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 we got tired of the samey disco sound by her. bring on the kaleidoscope-themed psychedelic trip bops or keep it.
LoveInStereo Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Hard to say. GP likes her songs but ATP, Dua isn’t a star in our cultural cosmos, she has no gravitational pull. Other big acts going into their 3rd albums were in a better spot in nearly every regard, especially with branding. Without a Paparazzi/VMAs moment (prove yourself as a true talent & creative force), you at least need a relatable tabloid narrative. She went out during lockdowns. Ok. What celeb didn’t? She used to dance badly - now she dances okay? Not a story that sets the world on fire. She’s the Barbie song, Levitating girl. How do you parlay individual tracks into a next step without delivering something more? There’s so much content & info hitting us every day. I can’t think of 1 reason someone who isn’t into stan culture would be motivated to race to hear a Dua Lipa song that they haven’t already heard, she needs the payola. Brutal honesty: Spoiler I suspect Spotify’s crackdown on streaming farms is gonna hit her numbers like a truck & everybody’s gonna say the decline’s due to her “new psychedelic sound” which isn’t new or psychedelic. 7 4
Blue Rose Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 4.2M second day isn’t bad tho. Also this thread gonna get bumped in January
honestopinion Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 She will keep getting 6+ million radio audience daily so she'll be fine i guess. She will continue torture the radio stations with her music. For now, this song as the LEAD single is very underwhelming and bland coming out after FN
kalli Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 "freefalling" but it's reaching new peaks everywhere on apple music atm
