If they were losing money on Dua Lipa, best believe she wouldn't be getting all this exposure. 

 

Warner is probably seeing one of the last opportunity of building a real career for a popstar and they are taking it. Maybe they spending a lot of money on exposure, but it's 100% worth it for them in the end.

Isn’t an industry plant a pop star who get more promo and exposure than they are strictly warranted through payola and playlisting? I don’t think this applies to Olivia when she doesn’t get that more promo and still manages to sell 300k first week

I was very underwhelmed by the song, the song should be recognized as the anthem of midness, I really hated it actually. And I'm not too familiar with Dua but it's giving the payola has ran out

an industry plant is someone who is hand crafted by industry experts and smashes out of the blue when no one knew who they were prior to the debut era. Olivia is anything but organic and thats the gag here.

 

anyway, just pointing out that there are major hypocrisies here when certain fans talk about others “getting brave”

Hard to say. GP likes her songs but ATP, Dua isn’t a star in our cultural cosmos, she has no gravitational pull. Other big acts going into their 3rd albums were in a better spot in nearly every regard, especially with branding. Without a Paparazzi/VMAs moment (prove yourself as a true talent & creative force), you at least need a relatable tabloid narrative. She went out during lockdowns. Ok. What celeb didn’t? She used to dance badly - now she dances okay? Not a story that sets the world on fire. She’s the Barbie song, Levitating girl. How do you parlay individual tracks into a next step without delivering something more? There’s so much content & info hitting us every day. I can’t think of 1 reason someone who isn’t into stan culture would be motivated to race to hear a Dua Lipa song that they haven’t already heard, she needs the payola. Brutal honesty:
