Khal Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 No But like someone else said, not a lot of pop girls do.

The Man Who Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Does Taylor have any songs that sound like Frozen? No. But, does she have any songs that i’d say are as good as Frozen? Absolutely! And this is just to name a few. I think Frozen is a great song, but I don’t know why we’re acting like Taylor doesn’t also excel when it comes to country / folk music. 3 1 3
LittleStarmen Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 (edited) Alll Taylor Songs are about her being a victim or someone else (a man) is the bad guy. Or about her having her revenge over a man. I can't recall her having anything as deep or universal... Edited November 9, 2023 by LittleStarmen 1 1

It's downtempo electronica. Country or folk is something like Don't Tell Me (Music) or Nothing Fails (American Life). "Invisible String" is lovely, but it's nowhere near as good as Frozen, imo.

You’ve misinterpreted what I said as I wasn’t saying that Frozen was a country / folk song, I was saying that Taylor excels when it comes to those genres. Every genre has some all-time great songs in them and you couldn’t really begin to compare them, as they’re not from the same genre. That was my point. Taylor doesn’t have any songs that sound like Frozen, but I personally think she has plenty of songs that are just as good as Frozen (if not better) - but that’s just my personal taste. I’m much more drawn to Taylor than I am to Madonna, but I prefer more guitar-driven music. Edited November 9, 2023 by The Man Who
PoisonPill Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Yes, several. Frozen is lovely but it’s not some masterpiece of songwriting. 1

And songs like that are an even smaller fraction of her entire catalogue.

Klein Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Yes of course. She doesn't have anything that sounds like it, but she released tons of songs that are just as good or even better. Madonna herself too. 1 1

Mr. Duff Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Ummm, a lot? I love Frozen but I can think of several better Madonna songs, and more importantly Taylor songs.
LikeaRebel Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 No. But Madonna and Taylor are very different songwriters: Madonna has better melodies with generally more simple lyrics while Taylor has more descriptive lyrics but her melodies are usually not that great (IMO).
Finkypop Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Every song on folklore and evermore alone clears Frozen that’s not even getting into the rest of her albums 3

Bosque Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 I just know most of the people in here (Madonna Stan’s exempted) who act like this question is a grandiose affront to the Queen of Pop Madonna (whom they have ignored and ridiculed on ATRL for the past 15 years) have played Frozen a total of 5 times 1

Well first off Taylor’s allure is that her album cuts are much stronger and deeper than her singles, but sure let’s do this I’m Only Me When I’m With You — a song from her debut album that expresses her adoration for the people in her life that help her feel like she can be her authentic self. Fifteen — a song from second album Fearless about the pressures of entering high school and being pressured into giving up parts of yourself, a very vulnerable and raw tale inspired by her best friend Mean — a song from her third album Speak Now about the negative perceptions others have towards you and how you can repurpose that sadness into ambition that fuels your growth, change, and success That’s 3 examples from her first 3 albums, the further you go in her career the less “MEN ARE EVIL” songs you’ll find. By reputation and Lover she basically ended up with -no- negative songs about ex lovers because she was so in love with her current. and Mind you NONE of the 1989 singles are about heartbreak, which is the initial point you made that you’re asking to be disproved. Red is pretty much her only “heartbreak” album. And when you ignore her singles her catalogue has songs about grief and loss and fear of death like Ronan or Soon You’ll Get Better or Safe & Sound, songs about depression or anxieties like peace, hoax, or mirrorball, complex songs about infidelity like ivy, August, or illicit affairs.. etc. Edited November 9, 2023 by PoisonedIvy

I’m not acting like it was a lyrical masterpiece worthy of the highest literary accolades, but to act like Taylor Swift has only ever written about being angry about men is ludicrous when her debut album’s primary theme is the reflection on identity and how it shapes our goals, our fears, and our connections with others. “When all you wanted was to be wanted, Wish you could go back And tell yourself what you know now Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday, But I realized some bigger dreams of mine & Abigail gave everything she had to a boy Who changed his mind And we both cried” Like you’re trying to clown this?? This is wisdom beyond her years. Edited November 9, 2023 by PoisonedIvy 1

Madonna's experimentation in sound is what sets her way above Taylor and that's the truth. "Experimentation" and it's just dumbed down electronica of the late 90s Ot: well yes! Like most of her disco is better written than that pretentious, empty bore 1 1
