Selegend Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) lack of hits. this album feels like a non-event for the GP cuz it lacks hits, so they've heard it on the first week and then got back on listening to Taylor Swift. U need to be more stablished to have a very successful album without hits. GUTS had great non-singles consumption if u look at it's singles run... about tiktok support, of course it wasn't massive like SOUR because SOUR had a narrative. and tiktok loves narratives (joshua/sabrina) but even so bad idea right? and vampire did have traction and virals on tiktok. it just didn't take off as much as G4U and DL cuz the GP liked it less. it's not new anymore, they liked it less. it's that simple. (and yeah, even Vampire. a smash but not as much as g4u and DL) and let's not even talk about BIR and GHM... those songs are not proper hits. so yeah, lack of hits. Olivia needs to switch it up for OR3. collabs between GUTS and OR3 would be nice too, she would benefit having more hits on her catalog. Edited November 8, 2023 by Selegend

UseYourIllusion2002 Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I mean it’s not really a flop, and my friends (19-20 yrs old) were super hyped for it the first two weeks. They all bought it. But yeah this is definitely a slight underperformance. She at least had a higher first week than Sour. But I could name a handful of breakthrough smashes from the past that had follow ups that weren’t quite as successful, but are not seen as flops and are successful on their own. I think this should’ve been released late 2022. These new girls need to release their follow ups to their breakthrough albums quicker. Especially since it’s giving Sour 2.0
SchmoodRing Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 her debut era was an anomaly you cannot compare and can't expect that kind of success to be duplicated twice 1
Psyduck Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I've heard "Vampire" and "Get Him Back!" everywhere so the era definitely still feels quite big in North America
Billionaire Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 If I'm being honest I barely played the album after the first 2 weeks it was out nnn
Aaron Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) sadly it seems like people don’t want her to follow the pop punk nostalgic avril’d sound, which is way better and more interesting than the sappy piano ballads people seem to love from her. i think after G4U smashed her team wanted her to be the “rocker chick” of gen z but that’s fallen flat on its face.
