Charli D'Amelio delivers most tone deaf statement ever

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Following her viral video of her working at Walmart for a day despite earning $70M in 1 year, here are today's tone deaf comments from her:

For context, she's complaining that she hates being an influencer and finds it to be a lot of pressure (despite having enough money to retire/quit)

She has 150M followers, earns between 20-70M per year from lip syncing and was born with rich parents (and since she was born rich, she doesn't need to post online if she doesn't want to. + 1 year's salary for her is enough money to last a lifetime, so she doesn't need to make online content)

What more does she want :deadbanana2:

Money does buy happiness but it doesn't guarantee happiness. If working at Walmart makes her happy geez let her be.

She can still be rich and be depressed.

But yeah, it's never a good look when people that have it easier in life complain about it.

But she's complaining that she hates being an influencer, which... she doesn't need to be an influencer as she was born rich and has enough of her own money to quit

She's complaining because of the pressure of being an influencer, which I cannot relate but I can understand it could be hard at times.

quitting social media sounds like an easy solution and just live off your riches til you find something you actually like and ejnoy doing. Doesnt seem so hard. Unless she does live for the attention and validation

Everything is relative. None of us know what it's like to be that visible and successful at such a young age. She's allowed to feel depressed and low like anybody else

Okay, and it made her depressed and gave her suicidal thoughts.  She's opening up about this because it's important for young people to know that the influencer life isn't what it's made to look like.  Most people will never end up in her situation and will be much more at risk at developing depression and other mental illnesses.

I don't even know who she is, but it doesn't come across as 'most tone deaf statement ever'? It is well proven social media takes the mental health of people down, so if she had money and was at the highest point of her career, it doesn't mean she couldn't be depressed :giraffe:

People always think being successful is synonymous with being happy when it’s really not.

But she's depressed over something that she doesn't have to do, its not like she needs to money or is forced to do it. She can easily quit and nobody would remember her if she hates it

Wait is dhe seriously making that much? How? It's like MPG level of earnings

Disgusting while people work their asses off in factories 12 hours a day for barely 50k yearly.

You need to know a few things about how depression works before making threads like this :deadbanana2:

What’s tone deaf about it? I hate this discourse about celebrities and mental health. If you’re rich you’re not allowed to have mental health problems? What? Have you ever thought about the fact that she had this come up as a teenage girl and how detrimental this type of influencer fame can be at that age? You have no idea the types of pressures she probably had to deal with and while already being in a fragile state of mind fueled by raging hormones it’s easy to see how someone can succumb to this pressure even though they’re making

tons of money.

Maybe she feels like she's not in a position to quit because people are financially dependent on her? I don't even like or care about her i'm just saying nobody has the right to tell someone they're not allowed to be depressed about things. We see celebrities crumble under the pressure of fame all the time

These ppl could delete all their social media and never work another day in their life and still be extremely well off.

that's one thing called her OWN feelings

so while I agree it is annoying seeing privileged ppl complain about how tough their life is...I also understand everything is relative. Like someone can be suffering but there is always someone else out in the world who is suffering more. Doesn't mean it makes their experience less real to them right?

Plus I dont think she said her life is tougher than others or anything outrageous that would make me feel like she is being ungrateful...she's just saying life under a microscope was too much for her which is fair. Doesn't mean she is saying someone who works a 9 to 5 at wal mart is living better than her. She can clearly retire right now and just having that luxury removes stress because most ppl on earth have to work until they are physically unable to or too old so she is beyond privileged and it would serve her to acknowledge it more BUT I also think she can complain about how her life was tough due to the fame aspect. The work itself was easy and she isnt complaining about that so I can respect that I guess.

Idc, cry me a river. She can easily retire from being an influencer. People who depend on their current jobs can't say the same
