I would genuinely be so shocked if she released the extended version this upcoming Friday 12/01. she might as well then pull a focus by Ari and recalculate this era

Can also independently confirm that Houdini (Extended Mix) will drop 12/01.

for me I dont care too much if she doesnt manage to have big hits from DL3 tbh just as long as she has enough to sustain a big tour and also enough to make sure her label can invest in the era fully like they have for FN. Like I want another like 5+ music videos at the minimum and alternate versions and live performances and cute remixes and stuff :'(

And while Houdini will probably experience a resurgence of sorts in January (fingers crossed) this does prove my point about Levitating :'(

We REALLY should have blackmailed Billboard more to give her the #1 because a #1 on the Hot 100 is NEVER a guarantee whereas some of you were being too optimistic and being like "it's fine! her status is much bigger now she'll likely get a couple next era!" etc...NO HOES! we should have gone HARDER that one week for Levitating :'( UGH IM SO PISSED I WILL NEVER LET IT GO UBGHHHGFerutbritw

I don't believe they would have given it to her anyway, at that point they were adamant about taking that #1 from her.

I was shocked to see them actually give Levitating the year end #1, I thought they were going to try something there too :rip:

You are over exaggerating. Dua and the song are doing fine. Y'all need to stop being so damn chart obsessed. She's been having back to back hits for years. You can't expect her to be number one everywhere all the time. It's not realistic. She doesn't need to pull ****. She needs to promote and or drop the new single asap in February.

This is just the first single. The meltdowns are ridiculous. She needs to book award show performances and do promo asap. These little interviews aren't gonna cut. Be realistic and just enjoy the music. I hope to see her on tour for thus album. I have faith in her.

**** the US. **** Billboard. Just keep supporting Dua and Houdini. Why Levitating one of her biggest hits is being brought up now is odd lol

Considering she hasn't even dropped the album name yet, I won't be surprised if the label holds the album until we get a hit this era

That would be really embarrassing and probably not true, or at least it shouldn’t be. This is still her strongest start stateside. She should be considered an established artist atp.

Like Kevin Parker would agree to go back in the studio because of some internet stan wars :clown:

She worked on an ambitious ‘concept’ album not a collection of quick little singles where songs can be replaced.

That’s the thing though. As much as I agree with the general sentiment, she still kind of doesn’t feel established. And I think that’s where all the petty Katy comparisons I’ve seen in here stem from. Much like Katy during and after Teenage Dream, Dua truly doesn’t have a dedicated fanbase à la Billie, Olivia, Taylor, Gaga, Nicki, Rihanna, Beyoncé etc…

she’s kinda lived and thrived off, let’s face it, being a non-descript artist IN THE US that is. And if anything Houdini solidified that she isn’t nearly as established as we prophesied her to have been after FN…

The song has been out for what lime a month and y'all want all the good to be laid out for you as a table? Only to then complain that "we don't get eras" anymore like just be patient sheesh. She has an album name and a bunch of things set. Again stop letting petty stans and stats dictate so much of how you think and feel of Dua and her music

She is and after coming off a huge era I think her label knows better then to fumble her

Which I respect her for.

This is not what's happening though 😐 your fear is literally a self inflicted delusion

She is though. People know who she is. And she does have fans too. Where is all of this coming from? Yall are really letting numbers take a toll on you huh 💀 stop giving the us so much power. This country sucks lol

She came off a monumental era and y'all expected for that kind of success to be duplicated is unrealistic and on y'all not her

I love Dua, but Houdini is hella mid for a lead single.

I only liked the part from the bridge to the end since that was the most interesting part of the song.

Everything before that part was boring and repetitive with a tired beat.

She should've released another Ian Kirkpatrick-produced track as the lead, I fear.

Certain popstars have their go-to producer: Guetta for Bebe, Ian for Dua, Luke for Katy and Max for Ari.

When they mess up that formula is when they tend to fall flat.

Its a double-edged sword tho - If you don't change the formula, you inevitably become boring. Adeles 30 is a perfect example of someone always doing the same formula but being punished for it

That being said, if this explodes in January/February for whatever reason, I just KNOW the general sentiments towards the songs quality will change. Yall are predictable as hell lol

Obviously Christmas is playing a big part but I feel like another reason that Houdini is underperforming in the US is because of the fact that Dance The Night is still a pretty big hit over there.

30 is quite different from 21 and 25 tho. She switched it up a bit, not like she would do dance music all of a sudden.

Yeah it's still super popular here in the US. Plus, Levitating is pretty much a modern classic now over here.

I do actually hear Houdini played on the radio.

Also, last year a major radio station's host called her the modern Nelly Furtado.
