The first week that went badly with ALL the support she had on Spotify wasn't alarming enough? In the UK when she started neck and neck with Jack, he's now on 600K daily and she's on 250K, so...

The fall was unexpected but not bad, 3.5M global streams is still really impressive in my book. Also, the song IS good. Not one single Spotify update will change my mind on this like it has done to some of y’all  A critically acclaimed song only been out for a week getting the same treatment Dance The Night had until it started smashing. I’ll sit patiently like I’m supposed to and wait for the smashery in January.

I don’t really care about the streams since I’m much more invested in the project as a whole, but it is kind of becoming clear that this song doesn’t have the traits to instantly click with the GP.

 

Lovin On Me, Greedy, PTTR, Water… they’re all vibey songs with catchy hooks and they’re all very lowkey. Houdini is so unapologetically in your face dance music. I kinda get why it wouldn’t smash as fast as the other songs did.

 

I hope a performance or two can change the narrative around the song, because I still love the song a lot and in it self it’s not a bad song AT all

Since literally every single hit of hers was a slow burner. In comparison Houdini is way more instant than all her hits except DSN.

I mea , even Warner themselves said it’s something they’ve focused on. Putting Dua’s song out there and hoping it reaches a massive audience after a few months out in the airwaves. It’s the most profitable way to sell a single if you do it right, I mean look at all of FN singles.

People need to give it up expecting instant smashes from her. I think it will never happen since she always tries something new for her leads so it always takes time for the GP to get comfortable with her material. She is gonna serve a Rihanna who never had an instant smash with her 8 albums. 

 

Just like with Rihanna it will pay off hugely in the end since she is already collecting huge mega smashes that become classics.
