single Dua Lipa - "Houdini"

After watching those interviews where she's saying that the album's theme is about being single and having fun and that the songs are in chronological order and split up in different chapters I am so confused. Chaos Theory/Butterfly Effect sounds so nice but I don't see the connection between them (yet). Give us the album announcement asap

So is Dua the biggest star of our lifetime because of massive payola and success stans or is she a faceless flop with no chance of being a star because I keep hearing conflicting narratives in this thread

 

To be honest the song is doing better than I expected WW and exactly what I expected in the US. All that can really smash in the US atm are Taylor songs, country songs or TikTok songs. Maybe Houdini will start smashing later but if it doesn’t, it’s already shaping up to be a smash WW which is great.

acc to them. Kim Petras has more interest for the gp bc she has a Top 3 debut... even if she can't fill a 5K venue.

These people trying to make Dua look like she’s not successful are just clowns. Like who even listens to them. 
 

i’d rather have a popstar like Dua that organically rises on charts in months and even if one of her singles doesn’t, she always has a trick up her sleeve than have a popstar that debuts #1 but then free-falls and fails to make any impact whatsoever. 
 

also you’re complaining she can get good radio deals and a cover on spotify… well that’s what you get when you have a demand and you’re popular in the industry. Your image is effectively a good business opportunity and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it also does not guarantee success so stop with that payola nonsense. good night!

I took a little break from the song yesterday and started listening again today and omg....this is genuinely one of her best songs.

It's just the time of year. Most artists usually don't release in the 4th quarter. This year it felt like a lot of artists did and I have no idea. I was thinking maybe it's because of the strike. Maybe labels were waiting for the strikes to end so their artists could perform on SNL and other talks shows  but usually only someone like Adele can release a single this time of year and do great because us Americans like to listen to Holiday music literally the day after Halloween ends until January. 

 

Dua's going to be fine though and the single is great.
