Houdini is a good song, and is probably going to be a hit, not a DSN - Levitating kind of hit but more like Break My Heart or maybe Dance the Night and that’s ok. The haters are the only guys still talking sh*t on this thread. Especially a certain dude, like yes, we already understood from the first 20 posts that you didn't like the song and you want it to flop, it’s ok, you can stop now. 1
Starkboy Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Can her haters stop pretending Dance The Night is a better song already? 3
unclefloprry Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 The fuckn bridge of the song is a highlight on her discography I haven't felt this blessed since the bridge of Love Again. 1
sneakyishere Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) It’s actually sad to see so many people still having their opinions formed by how well a song performs lmao. Houdini is probably her most original sounding track to date🤷♀️, the production and how the track progresses are actually interesting Edited November 12, 2023 by sneakyishere 8 1

Bad_vocal_technique Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) The way people obsess over chart performance really kills all the excitement in music. Especially considering how Dua singles always grow on the charts. Having said that, I can’t get enough of this single tbh. I hope the album serves this level of quality. Abracadabra Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 It's a shame the EMA's are cancelled this year because she would have served a great performance to kickstart the era

DUA LIPA Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 i just checked out that greedy song bc everyone on here keeps talking about it and... it's sounds like one of the collab droplets she did during DL1 if DL1 was today

Dua should try it out some time I’ve always said Dua Lipa should explore R&B, Alternative R&B and Hip-Hop Soul more as the tone of her voice alone is kryptonite to those genres/styles and she would do well with it. I think even an Afro-Beat based sound would do her justice too (not so much Dancehall/Reggae Fusion/Caribbean Fusion). Her fans, though, unfortunately, will want to keep her in the tight Pop/Dance box that she’s been doing since 2015, even if it becomes boring, and have her become the British Kylie Minogue. Anyhow…

Anyhow… tbh i'm all in here for her exploring any genre, i feel like the only times i didn't care much about her venturing into a sound/song were demeanor and potion because they mostly feel a bit uninspired (with potion her part is kind of cute but the verses are a flop). I also feel like she'd do really well with a darker soundscape, i feel like parts of houdini and the levitating madonna remix kind of went into that direction and i'm here for DL3 giving us a bit more of that

Anyhow… I think limiting your view of dance/pop to one genre is the issue. There can be so much variety done in dance pop these days! Applause by Gaga Crying for No Reason by Katy B Strangers by Kenya Grace One Kiss by Calvin and Dua Freak Me Now by Jessie Miracle by Ellie and Calvin Blinding Lights by the Weeknd All of those songs have distinct sounds that differ from the others, yet all could be grouped into dance/pop. Dua doesn’t have to stop what she’s best at to still give us variety.
ahauntingnearu Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 If the chorus were bigger or more anthemic, and if the song were longer to really flesh out all the existing great elements, it would be substantially better. Hasn't stopped the replay button however 1
DUA LIPA Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 i like how bass and drum driven the song is, i hope she gives us more of that and less of the nostalgia synth-pop vibes
